Yes you are being silly It doesn't matter at all what outfit you have. Be prepared to smile, shake hands and have a chat when you arrive. Quite often lots of people know each other and you can feel a bit out of it but persevere. We have been on about 10 C&CC meets and 2 CC rallies. I found that the field meets are generally better for newcomers as people mingle more whereas some rallies/meets are on commercial sites (mainly winter time) and everyone uses the sites facilities and only get together with their friends.
C&CC meets suit us better as they are mostly non book so if our daughter insists that she HAS to go to guides on that Friday night or another family member needs something we don't lose anything. We've lost a couple of deposits with CC because of home life!!
We only caravan with the clubs now as its so much cheaper which means we can get out more often.

Hi Annie, we've rallied with a BCC group who were a tad small and quite cliquey as the same family had been running the group since the 80s. There weren't a lot kids either so our kids found it quite boring. So we've recently joined a rally group that are independant of both big clubs and their rallies have been quite a revelation for us. Very friendly people, no snobbiness, plenty of kids, plenty of activities and socials (if you want to join in). We only joined November last year and have done about 8 or 9 rallies so far and have many more to go on this year. If you'd like details I'd be more than happy to let you know but if not wherever you end up I'm sure you'll enjoy rallying

I have rallied for the last 2 years after been asked by some friends to go on one. I went thinking it wouldn't be my thing but have enjoyed every one we have attended. We have done small rallies with a social in a party tent attached to a couple of awnings, also much larger ones where a full heated marquee has been used for the socials with disco etc. They are never expensive and a good way to meet new friends. Obviously there are groups of friends that go together but that doesn't mean they are cliquey.
We have just been on a 9 night holiday rally and were welcomed, included, and had a fantastic time.

It very much depends what group you go with rather than being better with one club rather than another. Some groups are more "cliquey" than others, but often they don't realise that they are coming across that way and they don't do it on purpose.
Go with an open mind, be prepared to push yourselves forward a bit if needed, and above all don't be put off trying again with another group if you find one doesn't suit you. As a member of either of the big Clubs you can rally with any of the different groups in that Club.
