My parents used to have one of these. They got rid of it as the pole that ran round the top used to bang against the van in the wind and made quite a few little dints. Saw one of these blow down on a site at Bury just after the may day bank holiday too and the wind wasn't hurrendous. Everyone else's seemed to stand up. This one is much better if you want to stick with the lightweigt material:-

They do a bigger version too if needed which is what I have.

Did have one made up some pads which i put between pole and van to stop denting as above post Now got rid of it and have Dorema Starcamp Mistral easy to erect and no poles come in contact with caravan.

Thanks for the feedback.  I had just come upstairs armed with my Visa Card and ready to purchase and thought I'll just check to see if I have had any responses. So the Visa Card has gone back in my purse.  We do have a traditional porch awning that we never use as it is large to carry (although its only a small awning) heavy and takes time to put up.  So we liked the look of this one as it didnt have any heavy poles.  But I can certainly see how it would bang against the caravan.  As the caravan is my baby I certainly don't want to risk dinting it.  We saw some awnings similar to the Panama 260 but they seemed to be quite bulky to carry.  Will just have to keep looking.  We have been to Catterick Caravans, Ropers and Ebor Leisure and non had any small porches for sale.  Last year you were falling over them when you went to caravan sales rooms!!   Guess the really tiny ones arent in fashion this year.

As birdman says the mistral looks good too and looks nice and light. I have the panama 390 and use that as an alternative to a full awning. The vans 4 berth and there's only me in it so it doesn't go up unless Im with friends. In which case its usually the disco awning

The panama looks very similar to our Rally, really easy to erect and not too bulky either
