Our drive has a bit of a slope and we currently park our caravan, hitch towards the garage and keep the mover in place and the brake on which obviously concerns us.
We are considering installing a hitchpost and using that along with chocks.
Anybody got any experience or advice re parking on a slope?
Would a hitchpost hold a caravan in place?
Out drive has a gradient of 1 in 8, we put a house brick behind each wheel and leave the handbrake off. We would never leave the mover on as to do so would risk deforming the tyres.

Hello Mo,
We also park our van hith up on a sloping drive way. I have made ramps for the van to "sit on". I drive the van up as far as it will go, place the ramps behind the wheels and then drive it back onto them. This means I do not need to leave either the brake or the mover on. The steadies are lowered in the usual manner, at the back I need to use blocks to reach the ground.
Please see attached photo.

the mover if left on can damage your tyres.ie.make them out of shape.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I didn't buy an expensive hitch post but I do hitch to a post of sorts. I drilled a length of RSJ & bolted a ball hitch to it. To make it more secure I had a man weld the nuts to the bolts so they can't be undone & weld several bolts to the sides of the RSJ so it couldn't be pulled out of the concrete.. I then dug a nice 37 inch deep hole in our flower border & concreted the RSJ into it. I reckon there's about 5cwt of concrete in that hole. Our van's hitched to this along with the Al-Ko lock, hitchlock & leg locks will hopefully be going nowhere.
My van has been sitting on my sloping driveway for the last twenty years. I park it, put the handbrake on, raise the jockey wheel so that it is nearly level inside ( it will not go any higher ) then wind the steadies down and put the wheel clamp on. It has never been a problem and never moves.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
I reverse our caravan down our slopping drive hitchlock faceing up the drive, useing mover. I then put a block behind both wheels put the legs down, put break on, disengage mover, fit wheel clamp, fit ball hitchlock, disengage brake, its as steady as anything, we have 2 cars one is parked infront of the van. I dont have hitchlock faceing down the drive as postman may crack his shin on it when delivering our mail.
