Should be Ok as long as you have room and you dont exceed the maximum permitted roof load of your car .
Normally 75kg which also includes the weight of the roof bars

i do all the time, have a santa fe and roof load is 100kgs (i reckon yours would be the same) i find it really easy to have them up there but i did buy a small aluminium 2 step ladder to make life easier. My bikes and bars / holders weigh 80kgs, that said my new stead is 4 kgs lighter than the last.
Bought mine roof bars and holders from fasteronline as they did deals for buying more than 1 at a time.

I used to have a Peugeot 4007 with Thule t-track bars. The t tracks allow the full width of the bar to be used

Last year with turning the handle bars on the 2 kids bikes I carried 2 x 24" wheel & 2 x 26" wheel mountain bikes with no problem.

With my Mondeo I have the flush clamp Ford branded bars that don't have the same amount of width so I can now only carry 3 bikes.

Sorry if I'm borrowing the thread for a second here, we've just bought a Mondeo 2.2 titanium x Zafiral, it's a hatch back and an amzing towcar with no roof rails, is this the same as yours & if so how much weight can you put on your roof bars please? I need to carry two kayaks & I reckon they weigh around 70 kilos.

Whatever you decide, please make sure that you chain the bikes together and to the rack with a good quality lock. It is possible for bikes with an oval frame profile to be stolen from Thule bike racks even when the rack is locked. This is from one that knows...

TOP TIP...

And when you buy you lock chain, go to ASDA and buy 2 of their dirt cheap inner tubes, (£2) unless you have a few spares at home, and cut the valve off and slide the tube over the lock chain twice with 2 tubes using zip ties to hold them in place.... then when you drop the chain.. (as you will!!) you don't damage the car.

Sorry for the delay in replying. According to the May 2010 brochure the roof rack load is 75 kg so 70kg plus the bars could be tight. However as kayaks are lower than a bike they will put lower force on the bars for the same weight.
