You know who you are - silver Range Rover, nice new Bailey Pegasus, doing 73mph according to my Satnav.
Thank you for giving me the chance to try out the ABS system on my motorbike today. Luckily it works rather well.
Swerving into the centre lane right into my path was a cunning trick, made all the better by only signalling once you had started to pull out.
Thankfully you won't have someone's blood on your hands this time. And thankfully you haven't turned my wife into a widow or made my kids fatherless.
Mercifully one of us was alert and aware of the road.
Every time I see someone towing behaving that way my skin itches. Sadly you only saw one of them today, he's not on his own Alan29. I'm pleased you were on the case & able to avoid him but, one of these days, one of the idiots who tow like they own the road is going to cause one heck of a pile up & they'll probably drive on unaware of the mayhem behind them.

Happening all too often. All my OH has fitted a bullet camera to his bike, automatically comes on when engine starts, records all such incindents, and hopefully will record number plate as well should there be a need to report . Glad you were alert.
No mirrors by any chance usually seem to think they don't need them on 4x4 and before I get shot I know not every one is like this .. But we are not the ones that can't see other vehicles and pull out
I hope no one has picked up the fact it was a 4 x 4, It will start the knockers knocking again. Alan there is no excuse for poor driving bad lane discipline lack of indication. I believe people should have more than one test during their driving life. There are people out there who are not fit to drive never mind towing. With reference to towing at speed - I have been in France quite a few times (not recently) and they tow a lot faster than us. That was before caravans had new anti snake devices. I tow at 65/68 MPH but my satnav says 57/60.

4x4 or not it could have killed the pour guy it's not the vehicle at fault but the moron behind the wheel
Glad you were alert alan and that you are ok.Sadly there are too many idiots out there on the motorways towing and not towing.Last time we took the van out there was a guy in a bmw came from the outside lane missing us by inches to get into the other lane then only to come off the motorway ! Have they no common sense they must know they want to come off . Pity the motorway cameras dont pick up on these people as sadly one day like you say there will be a terrible accident .
Obviously breaking the towing speed limit, must have been picked up by Motorway Cameras, might be worth checking and if you have the Reg No even better, could be saving someones elses life who was not so vigilant as yourself.
------------- Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow
I know you had other things on your mind at the time but it's a pity you couldn't get the reg number and reported him for dangerous driving where are the police when you need them?? I'm soooo glad you came out unscathed ( except for your nerves ), I didn't fair quite so well when I diced with an idiot on the road, I broke my back...thankfully well on the road to recovery but it doesn't half knock you for six. !!
Carry On and Keep Safe
------------- I am lost, i'v gone to look for myself, If I should return before I get back, Please ask me to wait.
But it's not just people towing - they don't have a monopoly. On our bypass yesterday a Subaru came up behind so fast and braked hard his car almost stood on end. He was pursued by a motorbike with 2 up. With oncoming traffic bike overtook subaru and us then lorry in front, just squeezing through.
As traffic cleared subaru passed us and lorry despite lorry right turn signal. As soon as the subaru cleared the lorry shot out to avoid a cyclist he was trying to pass.
All this at exactly the same spot a cyclist & motorcyclist were killed about 2 months ago in a similar accident.
Eejits!
Thanks for the replies.
It didn't matter what he was driving. It just struck me that money doesn't buy brains.
I didn't get the number - I was too busy trying not to kiss my ass goodbye.
Yes, I think that brush up sessions every 10 years would do nobody any harm.

I think it's coming to the time when we all need to do this
If I'd had one then I might havegot the woman who forced me off the road into the dry stone wall.
