We are currently away in devon and are using are new kampa rally 390 awning. It has been a wet week so far and we have found that the awning, after a few hours rain, is dripping from several areas on the roof panels. A couple of these appear to be on the joins but not all of them. Is this to be expected with a lightweight awning like this or should we be looking to return it to the dealer as its only a week old? Is another option to spray the affected areas with silcon waterproofing spray that we can get from the local shop? Although we appreciated that it wouldnt be as heavy duty as a full awning we were disappointed at the number of drips which has made leaving items in the awning overnight a no go unless we dont mind them getting wet. Any advice or experience from other owners?
Many thanks
Darren
Had a kampa 200 leaked like a sieve. Had a hell of a battle but eventually got a refund. My advise would be take as many photographs as possible and ask for your money back. They may come out with some garbage as this is what happens until awning shrinks, but I have been told that nylon or polyester don't shrink. I read on one forum that the dealer told the consumer these sort of awnings aren't meant to be put up in the rain. Laughable . Hope this helps

Hi did you replace your kampa if so what with & have you found it to be better ? Sorry to ask but I'm looking to buy something else but not sure what to go for next
We have just bought the Kampa 330 club, which is the same material as yours I think. First used it for Jubilee Monsoon Week and had no drips at all.
Before that we had an OR Compactalite, we had the occasional drip with that but nothing major. There have been a couple of posts lately about leaky Kampas, I wonder if there is a faulty batch?
An awning you can't keep anything in overnight is clearly useless! I'd be taking it back.

Thanks. As we paid for this on a credit card i wonder if its worth speaking to the dealer monday and if they wont replace it disputing the sale with the card company as the goods not being fit for purpose? The manual states it is designed for light to moderate weather so i wouldnt have expected it to leak so much. We have 4 more days left so will see how it performs and take photos of any further leaks. I am reluctant to spray it with silcon in case they then try to say its my fault as i have tampered with it! Still it looks like it out performed a similar sunncamp one on a neighbouring pitch as their awning was like an indoor shower in the rain this week!
we have a Kampa Rally 260 and a Fiesta 350. Both have been well and truely tested this year and havent leaked a drop. I would ring the dealer whilst you are away, I wouldnt put any seam sealant on it without asking the dealer first or they may get funny with you about taking it back. Hopefully you've bought from a decent dealer who will replace it for you. Good luck.

We have both the 260 and a 390, no problems with leaks whatsoever, but in heavy rain and overnight it is possible for drips of condensation to form especially if we dont put the groundsheet down for any reason.
I would not try spraying it yourself, to do so would possibly invalidate any warantee.

When we first bought our Kampa Rallye 390 first time it rained we had a couple of small drips when first wet. A chap on our site said awnings often do this first time when wet and said it shouldnt happen thereafter.
True he was we have used our Rallye in storm and heavy and light rainfalls since and no leaks, best porch awning I have ever bought.
We had the same problem with a similar style awning from Towsure, I returned it and exchanged for a new one with no quibble.
Since returning the leaking awning, I have read several threads where the general train of thought intimates that leaks often happen during the first heavy rainfalls, but when the awning dries out the stitching shrinks and forms a very snug water-tight fit.
Personally, I've yet to discover if this is true as we returned the awning before giving it a second chance and have yet to use the new one.
May be worth considering this before rushing back to the shop as I did.
Thanks for all the comments. We spoke to the dealer who gave us the go ahead to use some fabsil spray and said he would then take it back if that didn't fix it. Fingers crossed it looks like it has cured the problem but we are going to invest in the some monsoon poles.......I think they should be included as they are a must in my view. Other than the drips we love the design of this and hopefully can stick with it as its so easy to put up when compared to our old full size awning!
When I had tents they had to be weathered to fully waterproof them. This just consisted of spraying it with water then letting it dry. As its your first time using it and it hasn't got wet before thats all it will be. Just see what happens next time but sounds normal to me.
