We are new to caravanning this year and are working our way through our needs and wants.   We have an awning - which we haven't used yet - but have held off getting a carpet or floor covering.

Any recommendations ?

We use the Kampa close weave carpet [think its called Easy Tread] if it gets a little dirty I just hang it over the clothes line and hose any dirt off with a little help of a brush

This AWNING CARPET is what I use. Again, easy to clean, quick hose and brush if it's muddy.
The only problem is, if it's really wet, is the mud may ooze up through the weave. To prevent this, you can lay a cheap groundsheet below it although some sites take a dim view of them as it yellows the grass underneath after a couple of days.

Andy Brad if you fill in your profile we know approximately wher you live and can advise you where to go. If you lived in the Midlands I would advise you to go to "Jacksons of old arley" have a look around and speak to the helpful staff. Either get from them or trawl for s bargain online

We have this one from Go Outdoors: admittedly we've only used it once but on wet ground it worked pretty well, and the grass showed no sign of yellowing after a week. Link

We have the Kampa Easylock tiles

expensive maybe but they are brilliant, soft and warm to walk on, easy to put down/take up, great for rolling up the awning on when packing up, lightweight, we use ours to wedge in the aquaroll and other bits when travelling.

We had a carpet before but the tiles win every time for us, just amazed not more people use them.

I have updated my profile now - it only took me 5 years!

It might also be useful to add that our awning is 250cm by 750 cm.

The Kampa tiles look good, but we would need about 75 tiles and £190 !

By comparison, we would need to use 2 treadlite sheets at a cost of about £60. I first thought having to use 2 sheets would be a pain, but they are probably easier to handle and would work with a smaller porch awning (if we ever get one).

Eco-tread looks the cheapest so far at £45 for a 250 x 750cm sheet. However, it looks the least substantial.
