Hi....I would be most grateful for some advice on the handbrake of our second hand Fleetwood Garland 114-2 caravan.
When purchased we were advised that the hand brake hadn't been used for a couple of years as it can be applied but was very difficult to release it as the button on the end of the handle didn't really work.
I can feel the release button inside the handle but wondered if there is another way of releasing it if I try it and the release button doesn't work?
Its not the rubber grip thing that needs twisting and pulling further back on the handbrake handle is it? This can make the button really hard to release.

Hi....Thank you ever so much for your advice as I've moved the rubber grip further back on the handbrake now pertrudes out and the button does seem to go in and out.
My next question and concern is that we haven't used the handbrake since purchasing the caravan and reading the reviews it appears that the handbrake should be at a 90 degree angle when applied.
I've just been out to the caravan and managed to get the handbrake quite easily to about 50 - 60 degrees but it feels quite hard to go any further.
Do you think I should continue trying to pull it up and if so, will it suddenly click and stay in place or should it be a much smoother operation?
Our Lunar Solar was the same, 50 - 60 degrees ok, but very hard to pull any further. The handbrake always held perfectly at 50 or so degrees, so we settled for that. The only time we ever got it to 90 degrees was when I forgot to undo the breakaway cable and drove off! The breakaway cable broke with the handbrake lever at 90 degrees. Not too easy to release it either.
It didn't click (like a ratchet system) at the angle I pulled it up to, so do you think it will click and stay in place if I pull it a bit further and should I just stop at the 1st click??
