We have our tv ariel location on a cupboard next to the door entrance.
I think this is so the tv can be turned around and be viewed from the bed area. I don't find the sound very good from there also if cooking I am in the way.
I would like the option of having it on the front table between seats. there is a plug but no ariel socket . How can I do this. Could I with a portable ariel or one that is outside.
Are there any other ideas.
Should I just give up and leave it where it is ment to be.
My suggestion -
You could get a long ariel cable and use those sticky cable holders to secure it around the door, if you measure the total length of TV cable required there are places online that will make a custom cable up with male to make connections or try a local Maplin store or you may find an off the shelf cable would be long enough.
Just some ideas to demonstrate my thinking. The cable ties can be cut to length after fitting and are available in clear and black. Much better than fixing into the side of your van.
Hope this helps

Puzzled as to what you mean on this specifically. However in experience, I find you can usually (with a bit of forward thinking) route and hide the cable well. If you have the conventional Status type aerial with booster/power-pack, there are two outlets on these so your additional socket can be permanently wired back to the 2nd socket on the booster.

The aerial socket and plug is set on the wall near the cupboard next to the door. In our other van we had two locations one near a cupboard next to the sink and one on the floor next to the front cupboard.
but there is only one on this van I would like to try it on the front cupboard to see if we prefere it.
This does sound fussy. But the sound is not that good either so I am thinking it might be better. I will try it with a long lead first then rethink .
Thank you or replying.
Hi Nora, try the tv using the long ariel extension lead first and if you are more comfortable with it on the centre chest it's not a difficult job to install another socket where you want it. Procedure would be to snip the ariel cable at it's nearest point to where you require the aditional socket and rejoin using a T piece connector. Take a new run of cable fit a plug on one end which plugs into the T piece. Run the cable down inside the wardrobe/cupboard and along the floor under the bed and tack down with cable staples. Fetch the cable up inside the cupboard/chest where you want it located and connect to an ariel socket. These are readily available from Maplins or the accessory shop on the Enterprise Park by you, can't remember the name , ABC, or something like that. The socket will be in the form of a neat little white base plate which will screw to the cupboard wall so you need to cut an aperture in this to accomadate it. You will then have two alternative choices. If you also need a 13 amp mains socket fitted at the same location, it can be done in much the same way using the appropriate cable and a junction box as apposed to a T piece. None of this is difficult and funnily enough have also changed van recently and am doing excactly the same with the ariel socket. Hope you are enjoying the lovely Swansea rain . Mick
Thank you mick, that sounds excellent.
The rain is going soon and going to be lovely next week. I'm not in Swansea but we have a maplins in Cardiff not far from us.
We are hoping to go away a week Sunday for a few days.

Mick's idea would work well and it's a detailed description. I would just say though that some of the cheaper 'T' piece adaptors can be naff and give you trouble, so if you can get the cable back to the booster, simply connect your new cable to the spare socket. This way you're running a good clean (and slightly boosted) signal to the 2nd location.
Typical booster example shown. One socket is clearly marked input and the other two are equally split outputs to run two TV positions.
