Hi all
just wandering is anyone has used anything like this to carry their bikes inside the caravan.
Looks like a good idea but cant help thinking that they would still move about? Carabike
We Just used to wedge two bikes between the seats with bubble wrap and an old sleeping bag that we took for the dog I did find it easier if I took the wheels off the bikes
Carried the kids bikes and mine for years inside the van just covered in blankets and trapped between the cushions.Dont waste your money on daft things like that.
i have three bike stands as used in a bike shop but only use these in the awning, the one shown is good for that.in transit i prop up bikes with poles and awning.got three stands for £10,so ask a bike shop if they have any spare.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
The straps could only be used to secure the bikes to the frame, there's no other option for them unless you have cargo anchor points in the floor of your van!
Like the others, I pack the bikes in the van and suitably protect. As they lean over and rest against the seating, I believe they're better and safer than propped upright and while the Carabike idea appears a good one, I've yet to see anyone use one.
Arrrghh the thought of trying to get our bikes in the caravan without damaging the van or getting oil on the upholstery or carpets - you must be mad. My van is like new on the inside and want it to stay that way. I have a maxraxx which s briilliant but because I have a 4x4 it reduces my turning circle due to sticking beyond the spare wheel.

We've got one - the 'straps' are actually a couple of bungees that just keep the bikes in the rack. They do a good job of keeping the bikes in the racks but the whole setup can slide about a bit.
I put one of the kids sleeping bags over the handlebars to protect from a side-to-side swaying motion and then normally have the wheel clamp flat on the floor behind it to stop it sliding backwards and forwards. I also have a piece of tarpaulin on the floor to prevent mud and oil getting on the carpets.
Works very well IMO and you can use the rack on site to store the bikes upright.

We used to carry the bikes in the van and found it was much easier to get the bikes in and out of the van if we turned the handlebars and lock them in place.
We carried our bikes in the caravan but we only had two bikes. OH bought a bike stand from Halfords, screwed it to a piece of 3x2 which fitted exactly between the seats. He then strapped the bikes down with motorbike tie downs to the bike stand. He then put a piece a foam each side to protect the furniture in the caravan. An old blanket would do.The bikes travelled perfectly well all over with us.
Hi,
We traveled to Holland over Easter and they seemed to sell over there some small bars that fitted between the front seats, you could then use cycle carriers that usually go on roofbars with them.
