For a number of years I've used the "Up My Street" web site when going to an unfamiliar area or site we hav'nt been to before. Usually to find nearest supermarket/chippie/chinkie etc. Just tried to log on and get a message come up saying they've been taken over by "Zoopla", now this is fine if you want to look at property prices but not much good for finding the essential things in life like the local chippie. I wonder if any of you clever peeps out there know of a similar site so as one poor caravanner won't starve. The only other alternative I can see is to insist oh slaves over a hot stove, mind you, she could twist my arm and cost me a fortune in pub meals....Mick
Go to 'Maps', enter the town you're interested in and then click on the 'search nearby' link on the left hand side. Enter 'chip shop' or 'Tesco' and it'll show you them...
The mobile version is even better, if you've ticked the box to let Google work out where you are. Then there is a set of icons on the front screen eg. a knife and fork, which immediately shows you a list of local restaurants.

Thanks guys, that was certainly a rapid response. Have now found all the local sources of sustenance with the aid of Google Maps. Mind, I already had the liquid refreshment sussed cos it's a pub site, I seem to have a fetish for this type of site !!!...........Mick

If you have an Android phone then Google search integrates very nicely with Google maps and Google navigator. I expect there is a similar facility within the iOS
