Hi again....

hope this isn't a silly question. We are going to look at a van being sold privately and wonder if it is worth taking a damp meter, or wouldn't damp show up in the summer

Another vote for taking a damp-meter....

...but "summer" - do you mean the very damp season...?

("How can you tell when it's summer? The rain is warm...")
Some advice I read - file the probe ends to sharp points, and don't just touch the surface of the wallboards etc - press through the (somewhat waterproof) surface...

If you have the van serviced, this is done annually as part of the warranty. I have never noticed dimples, they are very fine points on the meters.

i would not buy a van not damp tested,take one with you and use it in every corner.
