Differences I have noticed :

CCC do a useful family price which works out cheaper for us than CC.

However, I tend to think CC sites are generally (but not always) a higher standard in terms of facilities and maintenance.

I prefer the CC booking system, where you book online and pay on arrival.   With CCC, you pay when you book.

Each club has a unique selection of sites, so this may be relevant if you have a favourite location.

Otherwise, there is surpringly little difference.

I've not renewed my CCC membership as we've been using CC sites pretty much exclusively this year. I found that both clubs had good sites but I felt closer to my neighbours on the CCC sites and I've found the facilities at CC sites better on the whole. Most importantly my insurance is way cheaper through the CC

I think that it's better to see which club has the most sites in the areas you are interested in before making a decision

Really weird I saw this thread today. I wrote up the benefits of both a couple of months ago (was published a few days ago though) on the site I write for.

But you fail to mention one of the major differences between the CC and all the others. They have no deposit system and all payments are made on arrival, they also have a policy regarding refunds which none of the others have. These things on their own make the CC far ore user friendly than any other club.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

I was trying to outline what I feel are the main points beneficial to the type of caravanner rather than the general person (IE. Money saver). Although the deposits and refunds are a great thing I felt the article could have got a bit T+C heavy if I included every minor detail, I hope you understand. You do make a valid point worth considering though.

The C&CC charge per person, so if you are on your own, you only pay for yourself (and extra for EHU) together with the over 55's discount in low and mid season. You can book on line and you pay a deposit, and pay the balance when you get to the site. Sometimes they owe you if you're not stopping for long!

If you have a family (2 adults, 2 kids) it can often be the same price camping at a commercial/private site where you usually pay per unit and not per person, as the standard price at a lot of these usually includes 4 people.

Not ever been a member of the CC so can't comment, except to say that the annual moan thread about bookings and how hard it all is if you don't book months in advance, and how all sites are fully booked later on in the season is off-putting.

Don't let the posts about CC sites always being booked up put you off. Obviously the popular sites will be fully booked at weekends as supply outstrips demand.Just book, if you can, your main holidays as soon as possible even in December as bookings open. Also book a few weekends if you want them over the main holidays.(Easter, half terms, bank holidays, school holidays).If circumstances change you can easily cancel them as long as you don't leave it less than 72 hours before. Other than that, people do cancel so a weekend at a popular site is still a possibilty.
