Hello
We've been members of the c&cc for 5 years or so and like the family deal(3kids) and also the fact that there are no limits of dogs. But considering joining the cc to open more sites,we like the CSS sites and are thinking of doing the da meets due to financial benefits.
I've looked at the website (struggling with it)but would like any experience of people in a similar position? I'm mainly thinking if paying per person it will be more expensive for our circumstances?
We have been members of the CC for a few years now, but this will likely be our last. For instance, we love the Hillhead Site but it was over £40 a night last week, so we stayed elsewhere for little over half that. The farce that is having to try & get online the day the bookings open, in order to try & book the best sites is another reason. We simply cant plan that far ahead. The Club Sites seem to be more set-up for retired couples in £50k motorhomes these days, especially if you go out of School holidays. They do have some lovely CL's, & the club insurance is good; but we just dont feel we are benefiting from our club membership these days.
I read somewhere that there are 30 club members for every available pitch, per night. They have opened a couple of new club sites of late, but nothing new in the South West for instance, & I dont think they have anything on the cards.
Sorry if this sounds a bit negative.

Hillhead is one of the All singing All Dancing Club sites within the club network hence the high price and location in Cornwall .
There are plenty of Club sites which are a lot cheaper in high season and the C.C has a far greater selection of sites than the C&CC .
Also the quality of the Caravan Club sites tend to be far better than the C&CC with better access roads and wider pitches and better shower / toilet facilities .
£40 a night for this time in cornwall is just a joke, i paid £209 for a week in st ives bay, hayle
which is on the beach, club house pool etc, that was 2 adult 4 kids.
I replied on your other thread about DA meets so won't go on about them again. We also joined the CC this year to give us more choice for rallies but as all of their rallies have to booked we found this doesn't work for us and we've lost a few deposits when something has cropped up at home and we couldn;t go. The C&CC generally don't need to be booked apart from the winter ones on commercial sites, you just turn up. However, if booking is not a problem for you there could be some really good weekend breaks available. In our area we have at least 4 centres running rallies and a lot of them have social evenings and daytime activities planned. For their sites, pricewise I think they may work out more expensive as they don't have a family deal.
Can't offer any advice on the da meets as that's not really our thing but being a family of 4 (kids 3&6) I do enjoy the CC sites. We've stayed at quite a few now and I really value the consistency and quality and as we caravan through the winter I think this becomes even more valuable when the weather can be a little more of a challenge as they generally only use the hardstanding pitches. We've always been made to feel very welcome and I do not feel that the old perception of the CC only being for the retired folk in their motorhomes is accurate anymore, I think from my experience all groups co-exsist happily together for the most part as we are all there seeking the great outdoor lifestyle... I appreciate bookign can be a challenge but do remember you can book what you think you want in Dec 2012 for 2013 and as long as you give at LEAST 3 days notice on cancelling there is no penalty. Long live the CC

Thanks
Shame because I would like to see the sites to see whethere it's worth joining...
It's a touch frustrating
1 years membership is I think £42 and IMO well worth it
To be honest I think the caravan club offers better value than the camping and caravanning club, we are members of both and generally use cc sites, and they do seem to have a bigger selection of cl sites.
However we are finding the sites seem to be getting less friendly and I am always worrying the kids may upset some of the grumpys.
E.g at the moment we are at new forest centenary site and the park says no under 5s (I have a 1 year old and a 4 year old) and no over 10s (I have a 15 year old foster child with autism who's brain age is around 7 who finds it soothing to be on the swings especially when stressed about something)
We have also been told our 4 year old cannot use the toddler room bath as it's meant for under 3s,
Remind me why I am paying over 30 quid a night to be here????
------------- Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
We have been members of the CC for a couple years and yes their prices are higher for club sites, but they have a bigger CL (5 van sites) network that the C & CC.
Also having also been members of C & CC I would say that tke CC sites are kept to a far higher standard then C & CC sites.
I am a member of both the C&CC and the CC and have been for a number of years.
I am a member mainly to gain access to the CS and CL sites, rallies and THS. I rarely stay on Club sites but when I do, I find the C&CC sites are cheaper than the CC.
Personally I find I use my CC membership much more, with plenty of great rallies/meets to attend. You do have to pay a deposit (or sometimes the whole rally fee) up front with the CC whereas the C&CC you can just turn up and pay. I guess it depends on whether you need the flexibility of just turning up, which would mean the C&CC would probably be a better option for you.
We are in the C&CC as we have found the pricing on their own sites is more family friendly (they do a family deal price and the CC do not). They also count children as being children until they are aged 18 on most sites and this makes a big difference to the cost of a holiday for us (one daughter 17 the other 15).
There is not such a wide choice with the C&CC but we have always found the sites come up to a good standard, with few exceptions. Booking is easy by phone (and online now that the new website seems to have been improved) and so long as we plan a few weeks in advance, can usually get a pitch on a site we want.
