Hi Folks, I wonder if anyone can help. We'll be travelling from Cumbria to Pickering along the A59 and are looking for somewhere caravan-friendly, with a loo, to stop for a quick break and give the dogs a bit of a leg-stretch, preferably in the Harrogate/York area. I've searched Google street view but haven't found anything. We'd be grateful for any ideas.
There is a large grassy car pack with a toilet at Ripley. About 3 miles from the A59 up the A61 above Harrogate. You can find it on Street view. Take the 1st exit at the round about approaching Ripley. It is on the left before the village. It is 'free, Easy for a caravan to drive around and get back out. Ripley is a nice little town with cafes if required. We stayed at the caravan site close by.
What about valley park gardens in Harrogate? There's a couple of public loos, a cafe, icecream kiosk and enough grass at the top for dogs to run. Is in town though, so parking might be busy in school hols ...?
Thanks for the suggestions.
White Rose, the ice cream is very tempting (!) but we'd rather avoid the town centre if poss. But thanks for the idea.
Frederico, your suggestion looks perfect, I think that's where we'll go. Many thanks.
If you get caught short . . . a caravan is a very handy thing to have Just have a bit of the blue stuff in the Thetford. . . . it`s funny, it rocks a bit when you go in . . .
------------- Peripheral people don`t have as much excitement but they sure live longer
When is it you're travelling as that car park in Ripley can get v busy on a weekend? Otherwise its a good place to stop, grass, but not boggy and free loos, and as said plenty of manouvering room.
Hi David. We'll be travelling mid-week so hopefully it will be ok. I looked it up on Street view and it looks like a really nice place and a lot better than the usual motorway service areas for the dogs!
