Hi, just wondered if anyone has ever used a lightweight 390 porch awning for a Coachman Amara 450/2. I am looking to buy one which is large enough to use to sit out in for 2 adults but not too big that it obstructs the side seating area window as we like to have this open. We have a porch awning which is 220 x 200 but its only big enough really to use as an extra storage area. So I am looking for some info really as to whether this would fit my caravan. Any help would be most appreciated.
Why not put in a wanted ad on the UKCS 'free adverts' section. You might get someone who often looks in the ads section but that rarely looks on this forum.
Personally yes but you may be happy with a 325?, check the location of outside locker doors too.
Could you cut some string to size and test it against your van?

I have the same caravan as you but to be quite honest I think porch awnings are a waste of time actually as the time it takes to erect a porch awning is not much difference to a full awning and a full awning comes with more benefits in more ways than one. Firstly you don't have problems with material encroaching any windows or doorways which is your main concern and as the cassette toilet access door is on the same side may cause you a problem too. A full awning shuts out draughts all the way round the awning rail, has much more support in windy conditions and provides more space as well for no extra work apart from a little extra pegging out.
Tbh we're going to use our full awning now. We've tried an old style porch and a lightweight one. The lightweight one went up quickly but we did suffer problems in the wind as like tango55 says, you can't fully seal them. I think there' s something quite homely about a full one.

Thank you adandemsmom & tango55, both helpful advise. I do agree with you that a full awning is better and more robust. I was just looking for a lighter and easier to pack method as we only manage to get away for weekends. Food for thought though, thank you
Hi, only just seen this post so 'praps a bit late!. We have an Amara 450 2 and have a full Bradcot awning for when we're away all week and a Pyramid porch awning for a few days away. Both are really good for each purpose. The porch takes a lot less time to put up than the full and both stand up to windy conditions very well. We like the full awning better (lots of space etc) but find the porch nice and cosy too with enough room to sit in.
Hi inthegarden, thanks for the reply. We just got ourselves a Pyramid Corsican porch awning, very nice easy to put up big enough for 2! so really happy now. You can see it in my gallery.
I have looked at the porch awning in your profile and what a wonderful match it is plus it fits really well too just rear of the side window. I think you chose really well and can understand why you wanted a porch awning just for weekends away. Does the awning fit between the doorway and the cassette toilet door or does it go right to the back of the caravan? I also noticed your green 'Ducks Back' hitch cover as well which is exactly the same as mine. I also have many other bags made by the same company too as the quality is really good without being over priced.
Hello, thank you for your kind words. We are very pleased with it. The awning fits to the back of the caravan more or less just beyond the rear top lights so the toilet compartment is all inside the awning with no obstruction to the cassette door. Seems we both have 'good taste' with the Ducks Back bags. My thoughts exactly!
Regarding my second post I think I will swallow my words as I like it that much I want one in green. Oh dear! I dare not mention anything to the Mrs. as we only bought our new full awning 18 months ago.
