A friend of ours bought one last year and was surprised about how much extra water it drained from the system. He thought it was easy to use. We've bought one for the end of this season but we haven't tried it yet.

Hi we used a floe all last winter, bought it between us and a friend with the same connection because we both tour all year and both had frozen up due to amount of water left after normal drain down. it removes around a pint of extra water. I must add that we have still experienced a frozen system when setting up ,even after draing down with floe, but it was an extremely cold day and soon defrosted when we put the gas heating on. Hope this helps
Yes, I got one last year and like everyone was surprised by the amount of water still left in the pipes/tanks, several pints in my case. Its well priced and easy to use
I made a similar device several years ago with a spare inlet fitting I'd acquired and suitable pipework and valve ;in hindsight, perhaps I should have patented it
It will vary on how much additional water you 'pressurise' out, obviously depends on the on-board systems in your own van. I generally get about a further one and half pints out, but as mentioned it doesn't guarantee you won't suffer frost damage, but perhaps reduce how significant.
I just prefer to purge as much 'dead' water from the system as possible.
I obtained a tyre valve from our local tyre shop,& modified my whale water pump
1) undo the jubilee clip on the submersible pump end of the blue water pipe ,remove pipe from the submersible pump head
2) trim down the tyre valve to fit into water tube & tighten jubilee clip.
3) fit pump assembly to caravan as normal
4)using a tyre pump electric or otherwise, with all taps & drain tap closed pump up system to no more than 15psi
5)open tap & see excess water blown out.
6) repeat for each tap & drain tap
