Just bought a avondale landranger 6400 caravan, can anyone advise what awning is best to get (got 3 kids so needs to be quite spacious) and where is best to buy from ? what price am i looking at ?, sorry but i am a total novice when it comes to caravans so any advice is appreciated
If you look on E-BAY there are some good ones going cheaply if they are within collection distance from you, as lots of people are now going for lightweight ones and selling the heavier ones.I sold one that i had, only been used 2 weeks in total, and it sold for 20% of what i paid for it.
You will have to measure your van to see what size your FULL sized awning needs to be.
Measure from floor level at one end round through the awning channel to floor level at the other end.
A full awning would give you the option of an inner sleeping tent, extension etc.
Some Porch type awnings also offer the same options.
Hi thanks for the replys. I am pretty sure i need one that measures 995 ? I have been offered a second hand one from another user that measures 1050 ? Haven't never put one of these up am i right in thinking this won't fit or is there a measure of tolerence ?
If you are a member of the Caravan Club take a look through the classified ads on the web site. You are more likely to pick up a second hand one that has been well looked after on there.
I bought one off there tonight for £260. When new in 2010 it cost £590 and has been used for 3 times only. There is not a mark on it.
We got a mint condition awning from Gumtree - I don't think they could have ever used it! £100 instead of a usual price of £350 2nd hand or £7-800 new - Bargain! Definitely worth looking for a second hand one unless you are very specific over make, colour etc (and have the money to be fussy!)
I got ours from ebay a lovely Ventura Atlantic at a third of new price and was immaculate. Kept looking for the right one and made seller an offer instead of it going to end of the auction.

If you want to refine the search just put the actual year of the van in the search and manufacturer Avondale and browse through what information they have. You can rely upon the information on there.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

That will be nearly 2FT too long for your van.

Regarding the awning being 2 ft. too long is quite right but I did explain this in the OP's other thread if you read my post. If you don't believe that this awning would be 2 ft. bigger get your calculator and check for yourself and then go on an online converter and convert from centimetres to inches.
