I am picking up my new to me Lunar Quasar on Friday. It has an external 240v socket, will this be a regular plug socket or the sort of socket you get on your hook up cable.
I'm guessing you mean a 240v output socket? yes that will be a normal 3pin domestic socket, it should be a weatherproof type designed for external use.
It all depends on the year of the caravan as most modern caravans have an external hook up socket that connects to the 240 volt mains via a hook up cable but recently I have seen a 3 pin socket in a sealed housing located on the near side of the caravan which is used for a domestic electrical appliance such as a heater for use when an awning is erected. I believe that this feature has been installed on the latest caravans that's why ask what year it is.
When a caravan is described as having an external 240v socket it mean the three pin domestic style socket.
