Hi newbie here. I have just bought a Rialto 555-4. It has a status Ariel on the roof. I have just plugged my tv which has freeview and plugged in the Ariel and tried to tune ......... And nothing it keeps saying no signal?
Am I doing something wrong?
There is a white box in one of the cupboards with the Ariel in and two outs as th van has two aerial outputs. This box has a red light on the far side.
Any help is greatly accepted
Thanks chris
There are 2 switches underneath the white unit. One is the power button the other is the booster, try turning the booster switch to the other setting LOW or NML If that doesn't work try plugging another RF lead straight in to the white box and into the tv to see if that works.
There is a newer model with a variable gain on the front. The aerial fittings used by the Status aerials were (are) rubbish, in so far as they generally have a very small screw locking onto the inner conductor of the cable inside the plug. The head of these screws can short the cable to earth causing loss of signal. Unscrew ALL aerial plugs you have (one from aerial and the others from booster to output sockets) and check for the screw; remove it if fitted as it's about as useful as a bucket with a hole in the bottom.
... of course, where are you located too? Perhaps signal lousy where you are, in which case the Status may not be any good.
It is in front of the house and wedged between the house and the garage so probably no signal.
An no it doesn't look like the one in the pic .
It has a removable bottom cover which reveals the in and output cables and the high gain knob
I guess thats your problem...no signal from the tv mast where the van is sitting.Status ariels are non to clever for picking up a signal in certain areas.
Our status is pants - we had no luck tuning tv in hence why we bought a cheap aerial which we clamp to the Jockey wheel or in the holders we've now put on the side of the van and run the cable though window - excellent picture.
I had the same problem altho I dont have a built in areal, I have a samsung freeview tv in my 'van and couldnt get signle outside my house so as the tv was a freebe from work I went out and bought a freeview box and indoor areial still no joy, as soon as I went away in the 'van I plugged it all in and it works fine the problem was where my 'van is parked inbetween my house and nextdoors garage
As a complete Newbie to caravanning, I took a small portable and tried that. I had the same problem and being an old giffer, (Alzheimer's is kicking in! ), and remembered that it had to be tuned in to Digital!
(Select "INPUT" on the remote)
Hells bleeding Bells! It worked.
