My friend who lives 2 miles from me has just phoned me and told me about a caravan theft last night , she lives on a terraced row of houses her neighbour has a caravan and keeps it round the back on a small field , last night they heard a loud noise coming from the back of the houses . a guy had hitched the van up and was towing it away with the wheel clamp still on .
The residents gave chase on foot and in cars while someone phoned the police , the good news is they stopped him and held him till the Police arrived a 50 year old man was arrested, there is damage to the van and im told it's eldiss i don't know how old the van is .
Neigbours 1 - Thief 0...... Brilliant, and this is what you call a vigilant neigbourhood to say the least and I fully applaud them for tackling this thief first hand. Let's hope the b*****d gets what he deserves.
The Magistrates will probably send the unfortunate thief on a holiday so he can recover from the shock!
That's if the CPS [Criminal Protection Service] decide to prosecute) It's only theft if he means to permanently deprive the van owner, and he only wanted to borrow it for a little break by the sea.
Yours cynically....
------------- Some days you are the dog,
some days you are the tree.
Good that they stopped him but what will happen to him probably not very much we had two homeless people break into our van when it was in storage they slept in it a couple of nights before anyone notice police caught them but said it wasn't worth prosecuting as we probably would get any thing back for the damaged they caused smashed the back window i had to get rid of all my soft furnishings as they stunk and also a brand new memory foam mattress.
