Hi
With two teenage boys, one over 6ft 2", who dont really want to share a bed. We have decided our ideal layout might be a Fixed bed with end wash room for us. But with long front sofas to use as single beds.

Can anyone suggest such a van, either new or upto 5 years old?

The Bologna is a twin axle so if your after a single axle van with a fixed bed and front dinettes which are 6ft+ you will be struggling .
I think you will have to settle for something else.
What is your tow car

agree with Neil and Lena. We arent after the end bathroom but still cant find a single axle van under 1500kgs with fixed bed and 6ft front seats.

We have a Freelander 2 so the bologna should be ok.
Our current caravan is a Orion 440/4 which is 21ft overall length and has 5ft sofas. Surely there must be something slightly longer with longer sofas.
The trouble we have is our 6ft 2" teenager does not fit in a caravan bunk and we prefer a fixed bed and long sofas for when they stop coming.

we are after the same as you kempy and most vans with fixed bed end washrooms have the shorter sofas.I completly agree with you, you would think the longer seats existed.  If you find a model with the longer front seats let us know.

To be realistic, front dinette 6'+ with rear washroom and a fixed double it's going to be a twin axle. I don't think such a layout would really be compatible on a single axle, body length would just be too long........Mick

I agree with mickeyb, for 6ft+ front seats and fixed bed, you will be looking for twin axles, our swift 540 front seats are 5'9 and 5'6 that's quite generous for a single axle fixed bed van.
We opted not for the end washroom fixed bed, as then the bed is even more forward into the lounge, losing more living space. So we chose the fixed bed with loo and shower in cubicle next to bed.

Can't they just sleep  'top to tail' in a sleeping bag each across the made up front double?  Doesn't sound as if they will be coming with you much longer anyway.  Or just get one or both of them in a tent (can't call it a pup tent when theyre that age!)

Another way would be to buy a van with fixed single beds, then the boys could sleep on those and you and hubby could share the front seats made to a double,  Can't think of any other way to sleep four adults on a single axle.  Although at 6ft2 he would struggle with some of those singles.

My grumpy teen has opted for his own awning annexe. Daughter has rear dinnette and we get the front made up into a double.

Will prob get a fixed bed next time tho.....

We're just purchasing the Louisiana. 6'4 double bed, and the front benches are 6' and 6'1. As said above though, no end bathroom, but walk in shower and bathroom together on one side.

I haven't found a van with end bathroom, big double bed, and long front benches, not sure it exists as I cant see how they would get it in. Ours is over 26', so with an end bathroom?

Agree with mrg I have a Avondale 555-5 fixed bed single axle and the nose weight is very heavy unless you have the awning under the rear bed

Bailey told me that N/W of Unicorn Valencia was 88kg ex works but the dealer weighed it and found it was just over 100Kg. The max for the chassis is 100kg. So put 2 light gas in place provided and stuff in the fridge and I found it impossible to back load without exceeding MTPLM. Wrangled most of first summer then Trading Standards made dealer move spare back and mover behind axle.Still not easy to load but better. The later ones were changed round a bit.Take information from Bailey with a pinch of salt.(eg dealer's scales are wrong, carry gas in car or shower compartment, unscrew front drawer unit and put in washroom to travel, you ordered the front drawer unit as an extra...all rubbish). I found that the fault, inluding other brands, was well known in the trade but kept quiet and that includes the Caravan Club.
Sorry, turned out to be a rant but I know there are people towing with ecess nose weight and this is dangerous.Not many cars allow N/w of 100kg
