yes we bought the van after seeing an ad on gumtree. Sellers health forced sale, we got a really good deal andI'm chuffed to bits with the van. Off over half term for a trial run.

It may be because the door is on the wrong side, hence the awning would be the wrong side etc. It would have to be pitched nose in to keep awning on same side as other vans, however therefore possibly against fire regulations as they cannot get to the A frame and whip the van out in the event of a fire.

Is that true with all sites? because the site I intend to put my caravan on for the season next year have nose in for half the pitches.

It is down to each sites regulations and what their insurance and fire regs stipulate. A lot of sites that I have talked to about this have advised it is for fire regulations, so that they can hookup and whip the van out, better to lose just the awning in a fire and not the whole van.
But this may not be the case at all sites, and if you are concerned I would suggest you contact them and enquire as to their fire regs etc.
I stayed on Dimond farm in Brean over bank holiday weekend and there were a lot of hobby vans there on site and there were a lot of caravans that looked like the awning had never been taken down so might be worth a look if you have not done so already.

ive seen your seasonal site advertising on eBay. I would have considered there but it's not near the coast. Hubby has said if we go inland it has to have a swimming pool & park to keep the kids amused. How much are they charging you?

Hi I read on another forum that they're paying a bomb for a pitch there. I'm only willing to pay about £1700. There's a pitch waiting for me at our usual site for 1550 but hubby is really digging his heels in & wants a hobby :o( I don't think he's gonna let me go seasonal unless I find a site that will take 1. Feeling really despondent now cause I don't want to give up caravanning but I can't see me convincing him to buy another English van unless its very close by & a really good deal. I rang more sites this afternoon & again I got a lot of no's & the ones that said yes I can't afford (2k plus) I spoke to a chap from the Brecon Beacons & he was iffing & umming about it but wouldn't give me a straight answer, just said to come & have a look at the site. I'm not driving 1.5hrs for him then to say actually no I won't take 1. The site seemed perfect too :o(
Hi Philip I did spot this 1 & didn't even bother to ring cause I thought being part of crealy they will probably charge quite a lot. Out of interest though I will give them a bell tomorrow. Never know I might be pleasantly surprised.

Hi not sure what fire Regs your taking about. I work under the Scottish Regs and am currently an enforcement officer for Strathclyde to which I have never come across these regs. The only stipulations we have is that there is a 6 meter gap between vans, and extinguishers periodically positioned around the site, however again we dont enforce on the extinguishers as they really wouldnt be much use if a van did go up. Perhaps the van must be nose out for easy movement is only for the site owners preference.
The English Regs which are identical to the Scottish Regs
Try looking at Adrias too - many have door on the right side but lots of different layouts.
We have fixed twin beds (so is teenage daughter's bedroom) that can be pushed together to form a double when we're camping without dd. Never seen this on a UK van!
Not all European vans have their doors on the "wrong side" see if you can get a UK spec, if it will suit the sites criterion (or at least give them one less excuse)
I cant understand the attitude of some sites towards European vans we have had a TEC 710 for the last couple of years and love it to bits suits all our needs, sited it each year, the amount we have paid depends on how long the season is and what the site offers

Our friends have a hobby at Headon Farm in Holsworthy Devon, would that be any good for you. It is near Bude.
Hi thanks for the suggestion. It's a 2.5hr drive & we have a limit of 2hrs. We'd like 2 use it at least every other weekend so ideally don't want to be driving too long on a Friday night. Im finding vans with a layout I think would work but hubby keeps finding something bad to say about them. I think unless he gets a continental he won't consider caravanning at all
I've spent a few more hrs today searching. I give up now usual scenario, either vague answer or just too expensive. Have a few sites in mind though for an English tourer so just hoping hubby admits defeat now or I'm going to have very twitchy feet every few weekends next summer! Thanks for all your help guys. Much appreciated
