Fingers crossed getting our touring caravan next weekend after selling our static caravan. Booked a seasonal pitch for next year to ease us in , but probably take it away for our main holidays and I am really looking forward to it Sadly I see alot of people are giving up caravanning. Please post something to tell me I have done the right thing and why you still love caravaning . Personally I missed the " people watching " LOL Thanks

Hotels are ok, B&Bs are ok, but the most confortable and content you will be is when your in your own home, so it goes without saying that when you are in your caravan you have the benefit of being wherever you want to be, yet your in an extension of your own home! Thats why we love it. There are no Negatives.
Regrds John.

People watching should be an Olympic event, I'm pretty sure us Brits would take all three podium places. Bet you can't wait to get back in training.

If the "giving up" movement really gathers strength of numbers then we just might get on a CC site bridging a week end; that would be a positive.

I would guess many who give up do it for health or financial reasons rather than actually wanting to give up, so all that really matters is that you want to go caravanning & can afford to do so.

Going on our first outing tomorrow since getting my knee replacement. Only travelling 30 miles to Darwen as only been done 3 months ago. I have really missed our little house on wheels and would hate to be without it. You won't regret your new home.

We are new to caravans this year and loving it. Have visited lots of places in this country, off to France next year. Also like the Doing nothing bits, wine in hand, reading or people watching. Even trying christmas away this year. Don't worry about what others are doing get out there and have fun.

I absolutely LOVE my little extra home on wheels!
I enjoy getting away on my own (OH and boys not keen on caravanning) so I get to have some real "me" time.
I like to attend CC raliies - the last one was at Catterick racecourse on race day which was amazing!
Know that I can pitch up, go off for the day to explore and come back to my own little space is extremely comforting and familiar. I also love staying on site, sitting inside or out (depending on the weather!) and just watching the world go by - Bliss!!

JTQU - we have found that some sites we can't book for a week but we have just found another site that can accommodate us.

I rater think thatb those who give up may well, (health permitting) return . . . there`s nothing like it. Towing, pitching, going down`t road to the pub for a nosh . . . I`ve got 3 days to go, and we`re off! My "Great and Wise One" took to it like a duck to water. Just as well; the amount of rain we`ve seen . . .But one of tese years, there`ll be droughts. And more droughts .. .

Packed up end of last summer after 35 years due to hip replacement that went wrong and arthritus in both knees. Found the Senator, even with a mover was too much. Put it up for sale and booked a week in a static this spring. Static was ok but just didn't seem the same, so, no takers for the Senator and then oh spots dear little 2 berth in the dealers (Don't ask what we were doing in the dealers when we'd packed up} and result was a px and have found can handle it a lot easier so here we go again. Had 23 nights away since getting it in August and off again at the end of the month for a week. Something about touring that just grabs you.........Mick
