We have swayed away from caravan a couple of times but always come back! We quickly found that the novelty of a hotel balcony and trying to find a spot around the pool soon wore off. Love our van and can't imagine life without one so no negatives from us
------------- Are you sure you've read the instructions?
Thanks everyone for your replies. Last day at our static today all packed up and gone to the new owner. I expected to feel sad,, after all we have had some fantastic times there, but , I didn't at all.
Huuby going to view the potential tourer tomorrow

Best of luck with your tourer, We are Sure you will enjoy it. We all love ours.Luckily we have got the best of both worlds,Seasonal pitch on great site 20 miles from home which we have already used for 18 weeks this year and whenever we want to tour we give the site owners 2 weeks notice They refund us for the time we are away and re let the pitch until we come back.
Freedom!! You can go where-ever you want when-ever you want. That's what we love about our caravan, (and loved about our tent). In our caravan we have comfort and can relax in the worst, or best, weather. Nothing beats the freedom to go anywhere we want.
Enjoy your caravan and enjoy doing what you want.
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.

I had to give up my static a few years back and I found the same - haven't really regretted it at all. I gave it up because, being a Carer for my Mom who had dementia, I wasn't able to get away. When she died last year we bought a tourer, sited on a seasonal pitch, and a trailer tent for the odd time we want to tour. It has turned out to be the best thing we ever did and we wouldn't go back now.
This our first year with our tourer after changing from a FC. We have only managed 3 long weekends away so far but we love it. All the same reasons as mentioned before. Feels like home from home but with the added excitement that its our 'little escape pod'. I wish we had summer all year long!
We had a year off last year and didn't think we missed it....... Until we dug the old van out again!
Went away 4 weekends on the trot, fell in love again and wondered why we ever stopped!
So, we've bought a newer, fancy pants van and will be using it regularly between now and April, when it will be going to a pitch for the season.
It doesn't matter where you go - it's AWAY!!! W have stayed at one site 3 miles from home and it was soooooooooo relaxing!
There are countless positives for buying another caravan Andrew, it's down to personal choice & I hope you enjoy it. We've recently sold up lock, stock and barrell. It was not an easy decision to make but it had to be done for numerous reasons in our case. The main one being my lovely lady has been suffering from Arthritis which seems to be getting worse and we elected to cash it all in while the outfit was at its peak value & spend a year or so without one.
We thoroughly enjoyed having our caravan & as we live 500yds from a brilliant dealer, I wouldn't put money on us not having another at some stage. It'll depend on how the Arthritis goes though.
I work with people with diabilities ( I train Assistance Dogs, you know the ones that do tasks..... emptying the washing machine , fetching the post etc ) and I know how painfull and debilitating Artrhritis can be , often not visible to others, so send best wishes to your other half.
Great fun Just updated our Van and love it my 14 year old son has already chosen next years trip in the caravan, do what you want when you want and chill out, ENJOY
Hi we always wanted to buy a nice villa in europe but never got round to it, however when the chance to buy a contemporary home, with lush fittings in the country came our way, we took the chance and have never looked back. We have many a changing vista from sparking seas on the coast to snowmen and snowballs through out the year.
Sadly the more that give it up allows those just starting to venture into a new life.
Sit down wine and cheese in hand and enjoy the people watching its the best past time in the world.
