Hi
This is my first post however we bought a caravan a couple of weeks ago and have found the massive amount of info on this site amazingly helpful so thanks for all your help already.
With the wind now picking up and the caravan on the drive I can hear a really loud whistling noise coming for something on the roof i think and wondered if anyone would have any ideas to help us.
It is a bailey 470/4 1999 model and has an ariel and flue for the fire on the roof along with 2 roof light/vents.
Any help would be great as we are taking our first trip in the half term and hoping to resolve it or possibly not get much sleep

Maybe one of the heki (roof vent) isn't closed tight enough or the rubber seal has perished. Try putting a wee bit of cardboard in the catch to see if that will make it tighter against the rubber. Thats about all I can suggest.

When you get a moment get all the windows open and rub all the rubber seals with olive oil (not vegetable oil)that will keep them flexible and supple and preserve them over winter.

check your windows are fully closed,if on the night latch they can whistle when windy.

You might not have a problem when out and about, could be just that your caravan is sited in a wind tunnel on your drive?

Sorry, but there isn't a rubber seal on the roof lights as they're designed to permanently vent the van and don't close completely air tight.

I could only consider one of the side windows, but to be fair I'd expect it to have to blow a right gale to create noise you can hear easily.
Do you live in a wind tunnel?

Check windows, door seal etc. Check also the aerial is properly secure on the roof as they can come loose and I wonder if what you can hear is exagerated by movement of the aerial.
If your certain it's from the roof and the aerial doesn't prove anything, try temporarily covering the aerial and the flue.

Thanks for all you answers. . I have been and checked and all of the windows are closed properly but at the weekend we will have a closer look and the Seals. The roof ones have no seals as mentioned but I have opened and closed them again just to be sure.
Will also check the ariel and flue at the weekend.
It is ridiculously windy at the moment here so maybe it is just bad positioning as was also mentioned. Will let you know when we find the problem.
Any further hints on any other areas to check gratefully recieved.
We are also going to buy a cover so at least when on the drive this should help and we will have to hope for best when in it.
We are all very excited to be going on our first trip soon

I had the same problem when caravan was on my drive I eventually sussed out it was the wind whistling through the awning rail!
I purchased some awning rail protector, inserted it and problem solved.
