Just to let anyone know who is planning to visit the accessories shop at Don Amotts in Hilton, Derby it is currently closed and will remain so for the next couple of weeks.

The shop used to be run by JR Leisure, but is has now be taken over by Don Amotts and it is having a complete refit. I think it is re-opening at the end of October.

The shop at Don Amotts re-opened a couple of weeks ago. It's much improved, light and airy with some fresh stock and more on the way apparently. The prices on the things we looked at seemed fairly competitive which is handy for the locals. They had a lot of vans in too as well as motorhomes.

There is a JR Leisure in Leicester, think it is still open but doesn't have much stock or seem very well organised.

Yes I was told Leicester was still open. The Derby branch had needed brightening up for a while, maybe JR didn't want to spend the money on improvements.

Are JR in trouble? Castlecroft at Radcliffe have recently become independent again, now the Derby store that only leaves the Leicester store

I disagree that it is improved, it is light and airy but mainly because they have much reduced stock and they no longer have the broad range as JR had. Hopefully it will improve given time as it develops

They are now advertising the shop as a 'MegaStore'

I think the description MegaStore might be a little bit optimistic, but I still feel it is an improvement over the old run down store.

It still feels like it could so with some more stock, but that might just be because it's spread over such a vast area. (6000 sq ft!) You can now see what the shop looks like on their Website

Hopefully given time they will increase the stock a little more to start competing with Burton Caravan Center.
