After a rather rash decision at the NEC last week we are looking at selling our old caravan - ideally over the next few months.
Is there much of a market for used caravans during the winter months? Also, what are the best websites to advertise on - especailly the free ones. Grateful for any advice. Thanks.
There seems to be a general belief that caravans are a bit cheaper during winter months and then the prices start to go up March onwards, assuming the sun comes out.
I think there are plenty of people looking out for a bargain during the winter months, but you may not get quite as much as you could during summer.
We have just sold ours without too much difficulty. We put it on here and had enquiries. Also on ebay where it did sell.
Price is quite critical as always. Happy with what we got for it vs continuing to advertise it for a little more with further continuing costs.
I was dubious about selling it in autumn but pleasantly surprised at the outcome.
We have just sold my daughters caravan, put it in the local free ads paper and on Preloved and had quite a good response with numerous viewings and still had calls even after it had sold so there is a market for them, good luck.

Thanks for your comments. Gives me cause for optimism. I'll put it on the "for sale" part of UKcampsite tomorrow. I'll also look at Preloved and the local free ads sites. Caravanfinder doesn't seem too bad for £25. I'll give it a go if I don't get anywhere with the free ones.
I don't think it makes too much difference regarding time of year. I bought mine a few years ago in October as I was miffed at putting the tent away and no prospect of going away until the following year. I also think local rag is a good starting point for advertising second hand vans as people who are looking for a van tend to look locally first.
Just bought mine in the last month and now the Brother in Law is looking for one. My theory is that there will be less completion for buying during winter months and therefore more choice. Price! Well it's only worth what people are willing to pay at any time of year.
We've just sold our caravan too, it was advertised on UKCS free ads from which we had a few calls but no one bothered to turn up. It was also advertised on Ebay in a classified ad and it sold there for the asking price.
My feeling is, as long as you describe it honestly & ask a fair price you stand a good chance of finding a buyer at any time of year.
Looks like a classified ad on Ebay may be worth a go. Excuse my ignorance - I know nothing about Ebay - any issues I should be aware of? Or is it the same as advertising anywhere else. Thanks.
