Folks -

Just bought a 2006 Sprite Quattro (fixed side bunks, end bathroom) and as I'm new to caravanning I wondered if someone could help with a couple of questions, as the generic user manual is useless.

(1) I was supplied with a drop-in pump for the aquaroll but if I left the pump on constantly it's very loud. If, however, I just switch the pump on when needed I have to use a water pump switch at floor level behind a hatch at the main door which is hardly convenient when you want to run the kitchen tap! Maybe naively I thought that opening a tap would turn on / off the pump in the aquaroll, but my pump just seems to run constantly whether the tap is open or not. Am I doing something wrong or do I have to manually turn on the pump every time I use a tap (assuming I don't want to leave it on constantly and listen to its loud humming)?

(2)is there an electric heater mechanism for the water heater? I can figure out how to heat the water on gas but the manual talks about doing it electrically as an alternative. There is a switch marked Water Heater on the awkwardly placed panel, which I turned on when trying the gas, but does this in fact just turn on an electric heater inside?

Sorry for the silliness of these questions but I want to get everything right when we go away for half term!

Hi,it sounds like you have a fault with the pump that we had. When we switch ours on on the control panel,it only cuts in when needed (ie tap on).Stays on for a while initially, but once full turns off until tap is put on.But it started running constantly and was noisy all the time-took it into dealer and all repaired, really cheap too (can't remember exactly what it was sorry).

You can have it on electric only-its the switch in the control panel on the floor (says water heater). That puts it on electric only.

Many thanks Jenny!

Just a thought - I wonder if it was constantly running as it was filling up the water heater for the first time (I had drained it previously). Could you guesstimate how long your pump runs when you initially fill up the water heater (i.e. how long it takes to fill the tank)?

SOLVED!

The bathroom sink tap handle was very slightly raised, just enough to activate the microswitch but not enough to run water so was unnoticable.

Pushing the handle down turned off the pump. Magic.

I've not followed Jenny's advice on running the electric heater so will leave that on for a bit and see if we get hot water.

Many thanks Jenny!

It only usually runs for a few minutes to fill up after draining down.Let it fill, then turn the taps on (we usually put the kitchen taps on first, then the bathroom once the kitchen ones have stopped splurging to get air out of the system).

There's also a pressure control screw on the pump itself under the seat.OH has had to 'tweak' this a few times to stop the pump running when it shouldn't.(There should be a bit in the manual about how to do it).

This is a micro switched system so the op wont have a pressure switch.
