We have just found one of our overhead cupboards has had a leak as a book we left in was wet. My husband resealed on the roof trim where he thought it was coming in and after heavy rain since it had stayed dry, however we have just come away for the week and noticed water is coming in in the same cupboard again and a small part of the outer cupboard wall feels soft does anyone know if this is a diy job or if we need to get someone in it is an old swift diamond pirouette caravan that we have not finished paying for yet so can't afford to scrap it any advice would be much appreciated.
Don't give up - I had so many leaks in mine it was like a sieve! One by one I sorted them out and so far (touch wood) it's waterproof.
Creeping crack cure is very good, as it's white when wet, so you can see where its going and getting in. I cured a leak around the side of my window with that, although the creeping crack cure just showed me where, and then I used Sikaflex to seal properly.
If you're not intending to go out anytime soon, I would put a tarp over the top so that the mysterious leak can dry out properly. Then you might be able to see where its getting in when you take it off again. Also it will stop the water ingress getting worse.
Before you cover her up, have a look at all the rubber seals around the outside of the caravan, some might need replacing. I recently noticed with a very persistent leak that the water was actually coming in from a different place than I had thought and once I had replaced the strip seal (which had perished entirely in one place), that was the end of that one - but I hadn't realised that it was coming in from an entirely different place to where I thought it was.
Seals direct.co.uk have the seals. It's simply a case of pulling the old one out and pulling a new one through. I used a bit of black marine sealent at each end to stop it getting underneath the seals.
I think you will need to take the full roof trim off and reseal before you get to much damage.Putting sealant on the top of the rail on one bit will still allow water to run underneath
------------- Hi. I have been caravaning for over 10 years and love it.Have been a member of the caravan club and love the CL sites

Thank you so much for your help we are new to caravanning after being campers with tents for many years. We were very downhearted when we found this leak our caravan is a swift diamond pirouette 1993 and has only had one owner it is immaculate inside and out so as you can imagine we were a little upset that something might be wrong. We originally thought it was coming through a light on the outside but not sure now we can't see any gaps or cracks on outside at all so i think we will take your advice and re seal everywhere when we get home. I have been thinking of getting a caravan cover so think we will invest in one for over the winter. We store van on our drive so can keep an eye on it thanks again for your help.
