Hi we have a Compass 634 Twin axle with a Truma mover fitted, according to the manual it is a twin axle mover but unless we want to go back and forth in a staright line its pretty much useless.

Are all twin axle movers that are fitted to just one axle the same ? we are thinking of changing it but dont want to spend money on something that will do the same.

I appreciate the weight of the van and that its not going to turn on a sixpence but I cant carry on rugby tackling the van to get it to move.

Would I be better with all wheel drive and if so which make and model ?

We've got a Powrtouch AWD mover and it is pretty good. No rugby tackles required!

We have the same van and as Al+Mel we have the Powrtouch Model 6 AWD mover. Moving a TA van weighing 1900kg with movers on one set of wheels would be like turning the QE2. That is not to say AWD movers will allow you to turn as you would a single axle van but they will be a great improvement on a van with only two motors engaged. Single sets of motors to drive a TA van are all of a muchness.

As a point of interest when we are climbing our van onto the drive over the footpath the slope is about a 1 in 4, and at one stage as the van hits the apex where path meet drive, one set of wheels clears the ground momentarily so motors on all four wheels was a must for us. On the plus side... Terrific caravan isn't it!

I'm very interested in this topic having just bought an Elddis Tempest. Powrtouch told me that I can buy upgraded electronics kit at 200 quid and switch the Evolution model I have to the Tempest and whilst I won't get quite the same smooth turning circle it is more than capable of moving the van well. As an upgrade to the 4 movers kit was 1400 quid I was happy with this.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Alistair we love the van but seem to hit a snag every time we use it. We had no hot water last weekend and can't for the life of me figure out why the time before that no gas which I put down to a problem with the regulator, we bought the van second hand from a guy who had had it 2 years but rarely used it and had no idea how things worked so its trial and error for us. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks
Paul
