We are off to York next week and it wil be the first time we have been away so late in the year, any advice for our first winter trip in the van would be much appreciated!
------------- Easter - Burford
May - WoodFarm Dorset
June - IOW
Aug - can't decided
October - Yorkshire
Plus many more weekends at every possible chance!
Extra bedding to keep nice and snug during the night. The water should be ok as it hopefully will not be extremely cold and use propane gas. We were away last week in the Peak District and had to turn the heating off as it got too hot inside in the evening. We had our awning up and that stopped the strong winds we had from taking the heat away.

We have just had 5 nights at Aberdeen, advice always keep some water in the caravan, we always have a 2litre bottle, use Propane (red gas) as Tersane says, we kept the elec heater on low all night, and enjoy your trip. x
I found it snuggy when it was cold last week. Heater on, plenty of bottled water just incase. I actually found it was too warm of a night time. Most of all just go and enjoy yourselves. Have a fab time!!!!!!
I was hoping to get away as I have a month off due to a hernia op last Tuesday , but a bit doubtful at the moment as it is more painful than I anticipated
We have returned from a early winter trip, it is the latest that we have been away. We had the heating on constantly when we were in the van, day and night, the weather was dreadful, heavy winds constant rain and hail. We were snug in our van but it was abit of a pain setting and packing up cold and wet, I think that will be it for us now until March!
We (myself, wife and 3 young 'uns) just got back from our first 'Winter'(ish) caravan holiday (actually, our 3rd ever outing in a caravan!)
My advice - unless your caravan is a fairly modern one, take an electic fan heater (seems to heat up the 'van faster than the Carver Fanmaster unit) to get the van up to temperature before switching to the on-board heater.
Also, unless you feel confident enough to leave on board heater on all night (on the thermostat), make sure you've got at least a '2 season' sleeping bag each. I didn't, but thankfully picked one up in a sale on our 2nd day of holiday.
