For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
hi, janus, taken a look and sadly its collection only....looking at the dorema site at mo, thanks for the tips though. always amazed and delighted how other vanners are only to pleased to help out one another.
many thanks.

We bought Dorema Daytona from glossop in the summer , cheaper than from Dorema direct.
Obviously not the quality of Issabella but in my opinion excellent value for money.
It dries out quickly and looks really top notch. We paid a little extra for the quick clamps and stayed with the steel poles (advised to) . Pegs suitable for the recycling bin only.
Have a look at Renishaw Awnings.Small firm based in Clay Cross they did us a brilliant deal on a Dorema Carrera, even rang up specially to order it late season, got it for next day.And they even do free delivery.Well worth a try

Keep looking at ebay and you will find an Isabella 1000cm awning before long at a good price. You could always ask if he will package if you arrange a courier.

I have just looked on the Dorema site, and their clearance proces look very good, but then you need to add £69 to have fibre poles ( much better than either of the other alternatives, and another £12 for brocakets to attach the van to the caravan with. All these are standard in other awnings.

Haggle a bit and see what you get!!! You night be surprised
We lost an awning at th start of the year and have noticed quite a few with the same design fully since. In all three cases we've seen including ours the awnings would have been fine if it wasn't for this problem. This issue is the way the little webbing tabs at the bottom are attached to the main body of the awning. These are the little tabs that hold the plastic unit that the ladders attach to. Where we've seen the problem the unit is held in place by just a couple of rows of stitching thusis often too weak for a reasonable wind. When we've seen this other awnings of similar weight and general design have been fine because these tags have been much better attached.
We've been looking around and have found both cheap and expensive awnings with the fault, and cheap and expensive without it.
Once one of these tags go, the others go quickly in succession due to the additional movement Movement in the awning. if your not around when it happens you come back to a bit of a surprise.
I know not all awnings are heavy duty, but I've seen it happen in not terribly windy conditions.
Strange why manufacturers don't pick up on this. Weak awnings when they go damage vans.
