I love the shower in our van,i dont see the point of not using everything in your van.I agree with IDPDMP about the chat from us brits its getting less and less on campsites and it seems the only people who will stop and have a natter is the ones who have been doing it for years.
It's definitely a personal choice. We always use the showers if on a CC site and have done for over 20years.Neither of us have ever had verrucas or foot infections.A friend of ours would never set foot in a toilet block for fear of catching something. She also would never use a public toilet unless desparate.
So there you go...horses for courses.
I use my shower in my van for my own convenience and family circumstances. Looks like alot of people use their own showers/toilets which has surprised me, I thought alot would prefer the facilities on sites. Even though I use my own shower it is nice to get out of the van for 20 mins piece and quiet, I have two daughters very close in age and they have just started arguing and bickering!! I will probably use the sites showers alot more next year! I am fussy about them though and have to agree that the CC sites are usually the best showers and toilets.
Never found anyone ignorant in 7 years caravanning and always had a polite "hello" we have made some fab friends through caravanning, in fact, all our closest friends are now caravanners and no we arent swingers before anyone asks!!!!
we allways use the shower in our van its one of them end wash room ones lots of room.. we never go looking for people to chat to but often end up having a chat with other campers, a lot of the time there very informative things like great campsites. places to eat. nice beaches hints and tips...all picked up from having a chat...and if there not so nice then we know who to avoid....HAPPY CAMPING...
I wouldn't say we go out of our way to be chatty, but are quite happy to be so if another camper wants to chat. We have noticed the occasional thinly veiled, curt reponse that means ' we're not hear to talk to you '.
What does seem to happen regularly is that fellow campers will happily ignore you, and then come over and chatter away whilst you are in the process of getting ready to hitch up and ensure nothing is missed. We have even wondered if this is sometimes a ploy to cause you to miss something - like trying to pull away with the mover still engaged!
