After suffering the trauma of having our caravan stolen on the 2nd October, we have a lovely new van on order. Hopefully being built this month for collection in December. Our insurers have been brilliant, resolved our claim really quickly, very pleasent to deal with, I really couldn't fault them.
We couldn't directly replace our Olympus 464 because the layout isn't made any more so we have gone for a Lunar Ultima 534 (Robinsons dealer special, their version of the Quasar). I am a little concerned about the Lunar being of standard construction and not Alutech, we bought the Bailey mainly becuase of the Alutech shell and 10yr warranty, but I'm hoping we have more luck with this one than the Bailey!
The lunar dealer supplying the van is near to Clumber Park Site. I thought we may collect the van and stay there for a couple of nights to get used to how everything works.
Really can't wait!

Sara.

Hi Sara,

Your already making  me jealous .....not really. But excitement ... I would be climbing out of the door waiting for it to come.

No chance now of us getting  a bigger or newer one. But I wish you all the best in your new one.

Whilst doing our 10 & 6 weeker hols we meet plenty that have picked up either new or used vans checking them out. It is sensible to do so and not wait till you actually go on holiday with it and find then something is wrong. It is the niggles you need to find if there are any at all, not just the major one.

Also towing, fuel, weights etc. As I said why wait till your away. Clumber Park sounds like it would suit you fine.

Hope all goes well and your weekend turns into the best.

We had the Highbridge Caravans Conquest 534 dealer edition and were very pleased with it, its little things on Lunars that show they are designed by people who do caravan.
Good luck with the new van.

Congrats on your new van. We have just ordered a new Quasar special as well. We are getting ours from the Sussex Caravan Centre hopefully sometime in Jan. We're excited too.

Our insurance was with the Caravan Club. They were very helpful, especially when I was completely stressed out on the day of our caravan theft. I have also heard good reports of Caravan Guard.

Hi Chinster,

I had a chat with the people from Sussex caravans when we were sourcing our new van, they seemed really nice and very helpful. I noticed, only after ours had been ordered by our insurance company, that Sussex caravans offer their own 10yr ingress warranty. Out of interest, how does their warranty work? Does the van need to be taken back to them for every service?

As far as I know, for their ingress warranty to be valid the van would have to be serviced by themselves. Due to distance we wont be using their service so wont be able to take advantage. The reason we chose to buy from them was because their special comes with ATC.

We had the ATC added too. We had it on the Bailey and wanted our new van to have it. Distance was the reason we didn't go with Sussex caravans although the dealer our caravan is coming from is still a fair distance away. Luckily we have a local dealer that is prepared to carry out warranty work on Lunars sold by other dealers.

Let's hope we have both chosen wisely. This will be our first Lunar, our other caravans both being Swift. We decided to go with Lunar because it looked like a quality van and it is only 7 feet 1 inch wide where as the current model of our Swift van is 7' 6" (too wide for our gate).

We don't have a Lunar dealer in Essex, our closest is in Suffolk (35 miles away) but they do not do specials. Sussex Caravans is probably the closest dealer from us who do specials and they seemed ok to deal with so they got our order.

Just hoping for some good weather next year now to really enjoy it.
