To be honest..our 1st van ...7 years ago was kept on my uncles ground...we would lift all the seats open the cuoboards and lock it up leaving the battery....never had a problem ...this time it is on the drive...plugged in trickle charging it... we will have the results in the spring ..

Lol, we are only doing this on the basis of what the dealers told us. They advised if it was not being used over winter to take the battery out and keep it charged up, otherwise overtime it won't reach its peak charge. We shall see!
Ours has no alarm on it. It's in gold secure storage though. Hence the battery coming out for an over winter charge, so I guess the cold weather charge is right then?

No, you should not use the cold weather setting unless the temperatures are very low, like sub zero. Otherwise it will over charge the battery which is very bad news.
Ah, thanks for that. For those with the Aldi charger do I set it as car mode and will it then go in to standby and then come on and off as and when charge is required?

Exactly
edit: but if you have a power cut make sure that you reset it within a month.
