Sorry i might be controversial here but how has every body arrived at the such high costs of caravan owner ship. We have one (bought new cash) 4 yrs ago, is stored and used approx 10 times /year. Surely costs would be considered prior to purchasing and one would have thought these may increase.
Still don't even think cc sites are expensive when you consider most commercial sites you have to pay for your dog, awning, pup tent, awning extension, car, etc. Caravanning is just an expensive hobby accept it.
Should imaging camping is just as expensive with pitch fees as well.
We have the approach that this year it would have cost us as a family of four £4300.00 to go to Italy for two weeks , fist two weeks of summer holidays( i have fixed holidays), + holiday cloths and holiday money approx £2000.00. So all in for £6300.00. OK there are cheaper but we like Italy.
When caravanning gets this expensive i will consider doing something about it. We had 9 holidays this year total cost pitch fees £720.00 c.a. and fuel £350.00, oh and 1 refill propane £19.90. Food is not considered as we would have to purchase this anyway even if we stayed home, entertainment, Tesco vouchers, and other vouchers (website searches) and caravan club vouchers, it can be done if you are prepared to do the leg work.
