This year we finally got to do what we have wanted to do for years, go away in the van for Christmas. So far so good!!!
Most of our friends and family think we are mad, I have had my dad asking for the last 4 weeks are we still going away what with the cold/rain/if site is flooded/have we a back up plan etc.
We have come to waterrow touring site in Somerset having been recommend it by a work college who came last year.
Just shame will have to wait a few years before do it again as best go and see family next year i suppose.....
We booked a Xmas rally a few years ago and it was a disaster as we couldnt get our van out of storage as it snowed so heavy, the weather was horrendous, we couldnt even get off our estate it was that bad! We had no food in the house as all our meals were planned on the rally! I ended up buying a chicken joint as no turkeys left! We didnt have a 4x4 then so there was no way we were towing our van in weather like that. Needless to say its put us off booking anything over Xmas again as we lost all our money too. We do go away for new year but we book where we know they will transfer it over if we cant get there. Weve been out for New Year last few years but staying at home this year and going on 2nd when its cheaper! Since we bought the 4x4 its not snowed! typical, hubby hoping he gets to try it out this year, im keeping fingers crossed it doesnt snow.
Have a wonderful time, theres nothing better than being in your van in winter we love it and we will be out and about from Jan has weve had a break of 12 wks, its killing us!!

Hope you are having a wonderful time away in your van.
Having been woken up by my boys at stupid o'clock this morning, I am beginning to wish I had gone away for Christmas!
Glad your enjoying your time in the van and Merry christmas to you. We cant wait for 2nd Jan to get away in ours, its been over 3 months since we were last out in it and we are so excited about going away for a few days.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday. At least it isnt going to snow and its fairly mild too so youve done well. I just hope it doesnt snow over new year or we wont be going and I will be gutted.
Just got back from having had 3 nights in the lakes, it was great just to chill out.
Only down side was seeing all the tourers and m/homes heading there as we were heading home, felt like doing a 'u' turn and following them !!
Currently drying out the porch awning on the banister ... it was kinda wet
Just back from 3 nights at Teversal. First xmas in van. Thoroughly enjoyed the break despite some problems with the water pump. xmas dinner at Canarvon Arms was excellent. Some rain but overall the weather was better than Easter when we had snow, frost and had to go out and buy wellies!!
I am glad you are enjoying your first time away for
Christmas in your van. I am hoping to do the same next year as I have always fancied
having a go but never been brave enough to try.
Lucky you Gail, we came back yesterday, thankfully the winds dropped as over Friday night they were not pleasant, if they hadn't it would have been an extra night.
We have def said we will do it again and more than happy to look at having hols in the winter. We did admit we were lucky it wasn't really cold as may be saying otherwise but by going in Nov-Feb I am guessing no worry on booking to far in advance :)
So pleased you enjoyed it Em! We had a great time apart from driving home today. The winds were terrible - OH drove most of the way, cos I just couldn't !!
We're definitely doing it again.
