I agree with Lyn, the site facilities are well maintained and we would return to any of the ones we have visited. Sometimes the prices can add up especially in peak season and a lot seem to have advanced bookings filling them up most weekends. I don't like the new "flat rate" they have introduced on some sites we like to get away most of the year and now find one of our favourite places will cost us more unless we go in July and August - when the midges are biting!
Having said all that they have some great 5 van sites which are easier to find details of in the new map and book.
Have been members for 35 or so years.
Cls are good value.
Club sites are always the same high quality but carry a high price.
Insurance very good.
I do not rely on new van tests as they only test vans put foreward by manufacturers so problem vans do not appear.
They do not like to upset manufacturers, presumably to maintain revenue from ads in the otherwise good magazine .
In both the C&CC and the C.C but prefer the Caravan Club as there sites are excellent and good value for money .
Don't do private site's !! had to many rowdy family's , drunks , kid kicking footballs against your van .
And if you dare to complain you get nothing but verbal abuse .
The CC is great for access to the nework of CLs (ceritified locations 5 van sites), we also insure our van with the CC and their insurance is a good policy. Club sites are pricey so we dont tend to bother with them but the ones we have stayed on have been ok. I wouldnt rave about them too much as some people do. I find the club sites can have too many rules and regulations and not very child friendly, the C&CC seem to be more geared up towards families. I am a member of both clubs and enjoy the monthly mags that come through. We have been members of both clubs for 7 yrs and also done rallying with the CC, this wasnt for us, just not our cup of tea but each to their own! They also do some good offers on ferries etc so its worth joining and like someone said try it for a year and if you dont make use of it then dont rejoin.
To be honest we,ve often thought about joining either or both of the clubs but still haven't run out of lovely sites to visit which don't belong to either. There are stacks and stacks of great sites for all tastes which aren't part of the clubs so don't feel like you need to join just to be able to visit a good site. From what I've seen on this web site there are a good mixture of people attracted to the clubs, some seem like us, average families, plenty of good folk but unfortunately some snobs as well.
we joined both for our 1st year to see which we preferred. we ended up staying woth CC&C but thats just our personal choice and not because there was anything we did not like about CC. We have 3 kids and just felt CC&C sites suited us better.
