I just went to book my first site with the Caravan & camping club after joining. The site is a club site so exclusive to CC&C i guess.....To see how much i was saving i also tried to book as a non member.... Exactly the same price..... I feel cheated now and wish i hadn't bothered joining
I'm not sure how you have come to this conclusion, Paul. Tersane is right - non members have to pay an additional £7.20 a night on club sites. Are you sure it was a club site and not just a listed site? How did you try to book? I've just tried a dummy booking online and the total charge for non members for the holiday is clearly shown alongside the member figure and it's quite a bit higher. If you did do it online and you had just booked as a member then tried again as a nonmember perhaps you were still logged in as a member?
If you tried booking over the phone I suppose you might just have got someone who wasn't quite on the ball but I would be surprised if that happened. Please don't feel cheated - you will definitely always pay more on a club site if you are not a member.
I don't think non members can book online so even when you try to book as a non member on line it will show the member price as you are already logged in as being a member, if you see what I mean.
Non members pay an additional £7.20 per night on top of the usual pitch fees.

I always thought non members couldn't book online as well but when I tried my dummy booking it looked as if nonmembers could book - go and have a look! And it definitely quotes the two prices -members and nonmembers
We stayed at CS last year that whilst it stated no non members never actually checked or asked if you were a member, which means anyone could have camped there and paid the same price. I've not found a CS that you can book on the website yet, you either telephone or use the campsites own website. Not being asked for proof of membership is something I have heard a few times about CS sites.
I always thought that the supplements were only paid on the C&CC Club Sites (the ones with the blue C on the maps). Though I may be wrong on that.
if you want to book on line you need to log in with your membership number.i have been stood behind people booking in and it has been £5 - £7 extra per night.if they make themselves a member on the doorstep this is waved.have seen this too.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

Ooops.... It seems i was still logged in at the time i made a dummy non member booking. Just tried it again and yes you are all indeed correct it does cost more to book as a non member, sorry. I seem to have offended some one on here... Oh well sh*t happens i'm sure you'll get over it.
In my defense though i am very new to this sort of thing so please forgive me. Thats what forums are for, to guide the novices in the right direction. Now where did i put me caravan
It's not just the site fees you save on, and £6/7 a night for 14 nights more than makes up for the membership. The CC also has a 50% off DFDS Economy fares till 31st Jan. This alone saved me £79. A no brainer me thinks.
------------- 73 going on 25

But the money you shelled out for being a CC or C&CC member makes up for the 'money you saved'?? <img align="absmiddle" src="forum_images/smiley5.gif" width="17" alt="17">
This is why we're not members of either. (Up to now <img align="absmiddle" src="forum_images/smiley9.gif" width="17" alt="17"> )
There are sites in both Clubs that as a non member you cant use. This also applies to all rallies, holiday meets and the thousands of 5 van sites aligned to each club.
We take the view that given our not insignificant investment in tow car, caravan and all that is necessary to use this kit that we might as well have the greatest choice of sites to use it all on. Others I know take differing views.

As far as the financial benefits are concerned surely it's a simple case of weighing up how many nights you are likely to book on CC or C&CC sites, in our case it's a no brainer as we use the CC a lot and like the fact the majority of pitches are hardstanding, facilities are consistently spotless and they do not entertain seasonal pitches, to many of us this consistency is very reassuring, that said I am not campaigning for more members, hard enough as it is to get bookings on weekends at most popular sites so clearly many people agree.
