Hello All.

I just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem we have just encountered with our Swift Charisma 540. We went away for the NY to Burrs Country Park (highly recommended). Anyway when we got there while we were unpacking etc I noticed there was water coming in through the top of the back window - the seal I hear you say - wrong - it was infact the whole window where it was screwed to the caravan itself was coming away. All the screws were loose, the caravan is only 5 years old and we have never had a problem before. It wasnt a trickle of water it was a waterfall!!! We managed to tighten the screws enough to stop the rain coming in and took it straight to the repair man on our way home. He is unsure if the van had been tampered but said he'd never seen anything like that happen before. It is stored in a COSSA gold storage site. The repair man said the wood that the screws were in was now wet and he couldn't say if it will dry out, fingers crossed it will. Anyway if anyone else has had a similar problem I'd be interested in hearing about it. Happy caravanning to one and all

It sounds as if you may have water ingress which has rotted the wood causing the screws to pop out, you need to get the caravan damp tested & repaired as necessary.

sounds like you have had water getting for some time now.best to have a damp test before you go to any repairs to see how extensive it is.

its a fairly common place for leaks, if the screws are all loose it's possible the wood that they sit in has perished a little. Re fitting and sealing this unit is really straight forwards though I would recommend new positions for the screws. Press a little firmly with your fingertips all around the window. If you feel a spongy bit, damp has started to effect the area. If its all firm the chances are you've been lucky and found it early. For a more thorough search consider purchasing a cheap.

Hopefully there is no damage and re sealing is all that is needed.

Check your other windows in a similar way, if one window has aealent which is perishing then the others either need resealing pro actively or regularly monitoring from this point on.
