As we are beginning to struggle with a full awning each trip out, we have treated ourselves to a Dorema Quattro porch awning for use on shorter stays.  We'd be glad of any tips as we have never used one before and the principle of fixing the sides looks a little insecure.

The sides of a porch awning are not attatched to the caravan. You simply peg the awning as tight to the side as you can. They are a bit more draughty than a full awning but a lot easier to put up so you have to settle for the compromise. They are also not as secure in winds.

This is our Dorema Quattro porch awning Jaygo. As DaveCoaches mentions,the sides do not attach to the van. The padding is put around the uprights which are against the sides of the van.
As you might see in our photo we did not have the roof taught enough over the canopy and rain water started to collect in the middle over the front opening door. We cured this by extending the poles out further so the roof material was tighter.
Although we have only used it a couple of times we are pleased with it and being relative newcomers to caravanning found it fairly easy to erect.

Thankyou both for your advice and info. Great photo Bob- it will be very helpful!  We have purchased the Dorema tie- down kit for a bit more security when windy.

We have had a porch awning..apache Windsor...can't wait to test both this and the van...the awning is a little smaller than a full awning butlightly bigger..than your standard porch.. also getting the annex...
