As disparaging as ive been about caravans in the past, ive now ended up with one - how hypocritical am i!
Ive had to sell the MH due to a change in circs. and bought a 2 berth Sprite Sportstyle.
Has anyone got any advice/tips about the foibles this 'van may have - stuff to watch for etc?? And is it a 'decent' van in general - although its after the fact now?
Im sure a lot of the MH'ing knowledge will transfer directly to a caravan, but theres obviously the fresh water side and levelling-up/stabilising thats different.
As I did myself a number of years ago! There's lots of good advice on here if you do a search on the subjects you want to know about.
The hardest thing for me when I got a caravan was getting my head around not just being able to drive off, but first having to hitch up! Towing isn't as hard as you think it will be either, but it's not as easy as just driving an MH.
On the plus side, when you get there, the caravan is detached, ptiched - and you are free to go off in your car without having to pack everything up. Lots easier!

Having borrowed a motor home when we had a leak in our caravan I would say that towing a caravan is easier than driving a motor home, especially if it's windy. Also a lot more convenient if you need to nip to the supermarket as you just jump in the car and drive away just as if you were at home.
Id say actually having the caravan once on site has to be better, due to the fact you have the tow car to get around. But logic says a trailer of any kind presents more problems than just driving a vehicle, be it a MH or a tow car.
Re, the wind aspect; i think the fact that you cant always 'feel' the caravan, especially in a larger tow-car, gives the driver a false sense of security, possibly ending in the 'van on its side sometimes. I much prefer to know how the vehicle is handling the conditions by being sat in it if im honest.
Towing isnt a new thing for me, the potential instability of the 'trailer' is, so this will take some getting used to i guess.
