Oh dear. The good one tries to do and it looks as though there are still cold opportunists trying it on.

Due to an 'odd' enquiry, I'm reposting and must ask that any enquiries come from a POP3 email account and include location and STD number.

Paying it Forward...

New to camping/caravanning but short of a few bob?

Although here as a rejoining member, my husband and I have been avid campers and enjoyed the outdoors for many years. Having just got married four years ago we took a huge plunge and started up two small businesses. It was a really hard and tough time and not the best timing as the 'crunch' as it was then, and then the financial crisis did it's best to scupper any plans we had.

It was during this period that we decided to buy a used caravan and site it somewhere we had loved camping before to give us a regular break from it all. In short, we appear to have come out of the other end and with one business thriving and the other stabilizing, so we want to give a little back to that which has looked after us.

Currently sited at an Adults Only site in Dorset we are considering interest for our van at an affordable cost to hopefully pay forward the luck and good time we had. Having lost people close to us over the years and very recently, it is our intention to donate proceeds to our chosen charity 'Cancer Research' and a donation to the site owners patronage Childrens Charity.

If you know of someone that needs a little luck and an opportunity to explore all that you have felt whilst camping, do let me know. Age, background, status etc is completely irrelevant. Just an honest approach with a genuine reason.

Compass Vantage 400/2 2 berth (about 18 yrs old)
Full awning (3 years old)
Shower room
Loo
Basin
Wardrobes/storage space
Kitchen/grill/hob/sink/fridge/freezer box etc
Gas Heating
Gas bottle(s) 2 large ones
Water pump
Hot water heater

Aside from the usual signs of weather, this van is in good condition and has been loved and looked after. The blinds don't work but everything else does. Even fitted a new tap and skylight just before the end of the season.

Too many extras to list and pretty much ready to go but we are even including cover, ground sheets, wind break, wheel clamp, external storage box, oh and even a mower and sun loungers!!!

This van and the bits and pieces would normally be advertised around £1800-£2000. However, we are happy to let it go to the right person or cause for half that - £900.

We've not taken it off site ourselves so you might need a bulb or two but I'm really not aware of any problems. New owner will need to collect after 1st March when site is open.

You might even talk to the amazing owners of the site about a seasonal pitch?

Shhhhh

<We currently have it pitched on one of the most favoured parts of the site>

I am not offering this anywhere else. It is very important to us that it goes to someone that needs a break and has a love for the outdoors so where best to place it.

This offer can be taken up anytime between now and when the site closes again 30th October 2013. That said, viewing won’t be possible until it opens on 1st March so unless someone trusts us on instinct now, they may have to wait until then anyway. Until such time, we will continue to spend many more nights and days of solitude there

I'm not sure how to post pictures here, but happy to email one or two of mine and some accurate library ones. Just let me know.

Whatever you choose to do this year, have a happy and healthy one full of amazing outdoor moments.

By the way, thanks very much for your comments and support when this first went out

Happy Camping

I've attached some pics (one or two of mine and some accurate library ones)

Methinks you try too hard, plenty will put stuff on freecycle because they want to help folk out & folk will take the stuff & sell it on ebay. Its difficult to work out what you mean by the 'right' person. Anybody 'poor & needy' will not be able to afford to go caravanning anyway.

As I suggested on your previous thread. Your best bet is to sell the caravan on either ebay or on here to anybody who responds to your ad, & donate the proceeds to charity if thats what you want to do, that way your chosen charity will get max value of caravan & save you the trouble of 'vetting' potential buyers which as you allude to has already run into trouble..

I'm not sure this is coming across clearly or that I appreciate the "poor and needy" reference.

This isn't some altruistic ideaI. If someone will not have the chance to experience just a little of what we have purely because they cannot afford to start, that in itself would make them the right person. Someone looking for respite from difficult circumstances, illness or hard times. There are a thousand causes I can think of.

The last 24 hours has reminded me of much and I'll simply donate the van directly. I'll remove the ad and wish you well

Probably a better idea to donate the van directly but I would think it would be easier for your chosen charity if you were to sell the 'van yourselves & give them the proceeds. Rather than remove the ad it would be better to price it for its correct value & reword the ad.

I would stand by my previous comment about how to do it, but I would just like to say what a lovely gesture and a really goo thing to do.

it is a lovely gesture and i meant to say...sell it for the true value of course.
you could even spread even more cheer by giving the extra made to even more charities.
