agree with surfer01, we paid £2800 for our 1st van which was a 1999 abbey. The van was written off after a detachment, if we had not been insured i would be £2800 out of pocket and would not have been able to replace. I would assume the OP's van would be worth more than £600 as a similar age to ours, if like us we saved long an hard for ours and the insurance turned out to be worth every penny, insurance is not just for those shiney new vans
