Just a word of warning. We lost the remote for our motor mover, (we put it somewhere safe). when I went to find it, guess what, its so safe I cant find it. So, online I went and found a replacement one. £80.00 later I now have the new one.
I always left it in the caravan, but as it was in storage I thought it best to remove anything stealable. well that serves me right as the van was safe but now the expense of a new mover has got to me.
I thought this, but I'm not sure about spending £80 just in case I misplace something.
We are now in our second year of having a caravan and I keep thinking we have everything, yet still find things to spend our money on ! Does it ever end?
Just something to be aware of when buying a replacement handset ad hoc on a secondhand basis, in that it may nhot work on your mover.
Last year my battery wire snapped on my remote control for my Pwrtouch mover and sent it off to be sorted by Powrtouch, which they did on their excellent service.
However the day it broke, I needed to move the van and a friend of mine that has a twin axle van also fitted with the 4 x AWD Powrtouch like mine of similar age mover let me borrow his remote. However it would not work, appears it was on a different frequency. Anyone buying a replacement from Powrtouch would not have a problem as they ask for the movers serial numbers and match the right parts. If bvuying elsewhere, I would check that will work with your mover.
Not the case here but because I might "leave" it on the "A" frame I put it on a lanyard so its round my neck till safely stowed.
It comes to us all with age!
Powrtouch approved me drilling a suitable 2mm hole right at the base of the main body; model sold 5 years ago.
I am sure you have to program a replacement handset in to the Powrtouch. Obviously they all work on different frequencies or if two people happened to be pitching up next to each other they would be moving the wrong caravan

yes you do need to re-program when you get a new remote, they send instructions with it.mine used to set the house alarm off on the house across the road each time i used the mover.he had to get it reset to another frequency.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

Whilst they might work on several frequencies a friend reportedly heard his mover starting running and stopping when a van was being positioned alongside him. He had forgotten to isolate his Powrtouch unit though thankfully backed off the rollers and the bloke standing along side my friends van was driving his unit as well as moving his own. So the number of frequencies used might not be too extensive.
Doesn't surprise me that there is a degree of duplication of frequencies. There is after all a degree of duplication with caravan keys. If I recall only around 10,000 combinations of caravan key are available, maybe less.
Michaels post reminds me of a wireless doorbell I had on my front door. I couldn't understand why the door bell kept ringing with no one around. It turned out next doors car alarm fob would ring my bell when they locked the car. I didn't realise this as they tend to lock the door as they were closing the front door so by the time I got there they were out of site. It was only coincidence one day I spotted them with some shopping on the door step and made the link. Never did manage to lock them in the car by ringing my door bell though.

Dont beat yourself up about it too much Yorkie1960 we put our remote on the boot of the car when we had finished hooking up and guess what?? Yep then drove off and the thing fell off and was seen no more. I rang the site in the hope that someone had handed it in but guess again?? no one had . Cost us £80 for a replacement and we have now done as JTQU has done . I wander how many other people have done the same???

------------- You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only option!
I have just ordered two "camera lens keepers" for mine and then I will add a lanyard so that I can keep it round my neck while using it and hopefully won't put it down somewhere and drive off. Ebay £1.49
Yes my Dad lost his PwrTouch mover remote - he's got to have the new one programmed in, not sure how much that will cost him in total!
We left ours at home on the wall once after a stressful time of trying to get the bloody caravan off our drive! luckily our daughter was home and took it in, but we were minus the mover on holiday in France!
