Picked up new caravan yesterday really pleased got it home plugged it in all fine then noticed a electrical burning smell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lifted up the bunk checked fuses alarm fuse blown replaced more smoke turns out the alarm control module has melted great start to a new van 1 day old and already gone wrong...........I have informed dealer he is going to order me a new module
Question would you wait for dealer or phone the alarm people direct ?
On a similar problem years ago on a bailey the dealer just contacted the alarm manufacturer who came to the house and fixed the problem

Your first call is to the supplying dealer of caravan as it is warranted as one entity, you don't deal direct with any manufacturer of parts for caravan on warranty issues. If dealer does not appear to be treating this fault as urgent then probably it won't do any harm to contact alarm supplier direct to check state of play as those that complain the loudest generally get sorted first.

In fact you could phone dealer & point out you need van alarmed & suggest that they send the alarm service person to your house to fix it. The alarm company could not do this without say so from caravan dealer.
Agree. Also advise dealer that you are in breach of your insurance policy and that if the alarm is not fixed today, then, in the event of there being any insurance claim that is disallowed because of the defective alarm, you will hold them liable. I know that the possibilities of that happening may be remote, but you need to protect your position, and give the dealer some impetus to get things moving. The dealer can only move as fast as the manufacturer but every little helps.

Sounds like us last year! Pciked our new van up, parked it on drive, switched heating on to have a play, left the van for an hour or so, came back to find a sodden cushion, wet floor! turned out the valve hadnt been tightened on the ALde heating and water was hissing out onto the side dinette area! Not a good start, but, fingers xxx weve had it nearly a year now and it knocks the socks off the Baileys that weve had! Absolutley love it and wont be changing it for years.
We love it as soon as we are back from work we have to go in and play........we will be trying it out locally at chapel lane cc club site at the weekend just to make sure everything works can't wait
