Hi all, could I have some advise please, recently purchased a new to us C/van, it has a status 315 flying saucer aerial on top of van, I am unable to tune in the TV.
any advise please.
Our point me in the right direction to find out.(no pun intended)
Are you sure the flying saucer is switched on? You need power on or at least a good battery. There is a control for the aerial which is usually in a cupboard with co-ax cables going in and out. It may light up when switched on.

hi oxter,Stressed Al.
yes powers on,red led, co-ax in tv and in socket, just above 13amp plug socket. I have a new battery, also have 240 plug in.
I have tried tv tuning in twice, but with no luck, I am in a good signal area also.
yes have tried re-tuning with dtv on tv.
I have just checked co-ax cable again, so I am going to re-try tuning. so will be away from computer for a short while.
stay tuned.
We had no luck with our omni ariel so changed to 'regular'ariel and have had no problem. On our previous seasonal site we got no reception at all but the people next to us got every channel going with the same make of tele. We tried our tele in thier 'van and everything worked perfectly. That is when we bought the new ariel and although we have changed sites everything is still great with perfect reception.
Try doing a "First Time Setup" of your TV. Sometimes ours goes a bit haywire when tuning in to a different transmitter when simply searching for channels. Also check the coax is not loose in the plugs on the TV and amp.

well just managed to tune in 26 dig channels, no signal/picture as such.
it could be due to being to close to my galvanized roofed garage.
thank you all for your input.

No I would say almost certainly the coax was badly connected. You only need to have a tiny thread of the fine sheathing wire touching the core wire to upset things. Same for other post having problems - check the coax in and out of the booster box
The omni directional Status was never the best antenna in the world, tho you might find it will pick up a reasonable signal in some places, it may not in others. Could treat yourself to the later model, the directional one, vast improvement, or stick a cheapo on a pole attached to the A frame. A pre-amp (booster) will amplify unwanted interference as well as the signal you want, so sooner an efficent antenna direct to the receiver than running thro all sorts of gadgets. As for the galvanised roof of your garage, what about the aluminium roof of the van with a status being so close........Mick
I had the same problem with our roof antenna (which is also the 'Status' 315 flying saucer type) when we first bought our caravan and had no end of problems trying to tune in the TV. I eventually found out that the coaxial cable had been cut prior to our purchase which was the cause of not receiving a TV reception but as it couldn't be repaired due to the design I had to buy a another one (second hand) which permanently solved the problem. So the advice is to check this connection first as you automatically assume the connection is there when it may not be.
i had a similar problem when my caravan came back from service, the led light for the booster was on, but it was very dim, turned out the booster had failed but to the un- trained eye it would have looked as though everything was working properly.
put on a new booster and everything fine.
I couldn't get a signal with the caravan on the drive either. However, when I went camping I got every channel going on freeview! My home aerial works fine, but that's on the roof! I am in a good signal area. However, the caravan on the drive is a lot lower, there are other houses (and my own) in the way of the signal. Don't write off the aerial on your van until you have tried it on a site.
