Bit up in hte air at the moment, but somebody has asked would we be interested in buying their van. Getting more details of size/age condition of van tomorrow. Now the big problem for us is storage.
What do people pay for storage please, as this is one of the things that we would have to consider.
I know you good pope will help.
thanks in advance.
You will get a wide range of prices depending on where you live. I pay over 600 a year, others pay half that.
Have a look at the http://www.cassoa.co.uk/Caravan_Storage_Home.aspx Cassoa site and ring a few in your area.
When I first stated looking for storage I was amazed at how few places were available, so start looking well before you get the van.

Probably between £250 and £400 per year. Expect to pay more for a gold rated cassoa storage site than a farmer's field. Of course you'll get someone along that tells you they pay £600 with armed guards all around 24/7. Same as someone wil pay £50 for a friendly neighbour's back yard. I paid £250 per year on a farm in a fenced compound with camera to which I had access 24/7. Now downsized so am able to keep van on the drive........Mick
My friend keeps her caravan on a camp site local to us with 24/7 security and she pays £400 a year. It is a big caravan too, which I believe put the price up. It is a Lunar Quasar twin axle.

Mnay thanks. I should find out more today about the actual an.
Some of these prices don't sound too bad.
Another thing I was thinking about, was a seasonal pitch, not too far away - about an hours drive, so that we could go more weekends. (It's amazing what you think about when you are lying awake at am).
we have a seasonal pitch which is an hour away from home an since been on it we have used the van so much more, there are also options for pitch and store where you leave your caravan in storage at the site and then just phone when you want to go, they will pull it out an put on a pitch for you. The store an pitch option is a lot cheaper, you just pay your pitch fee as usual when staying in the van.
At of sites now have waiting lists for seasonal pitches i know our site has, the fee varies sepending on the site facilities, we pay £1750 but there are sites which are cheaper.
£400 pa for a secure spot rented from a local garden centre who does storage as a sideline. Good security though. Massive metal fences, alarms, paid security guards (who also cover the garden centre) and lighting. Only downside is the cost and the limited access times - obviously only when the garden centre is open. It's expensive but worth it to us as it's so close to home.
We are about to pay £300 for a gold cassoa site local to us. We get a 25% new customer discount for the first 12 months and if we choose to keep with them it would be £400 for the year.
Richard seems keen on getting a van - he can't do airbeds so needs to be off the floor to sleep. We did get a trailer tent last year when our folding camper died. He really missed the fc, and part of me did - althugh I do love tents. Now the chance for a caravan has come up.
Going to have to see what work it does need doing to it.
Only down side is that Richard was going to downsize his car - but would need a towcar if we get the van. although my Micra does teh trailer tent, somehow I don't think the poor thing could manage a caravan.
I pay £450 per annum for storage on a cassoa gold registered site. The cost is based on the size of the van. Most caravan insurance companies give a discount on your yearly insurance premium for using a Cassoa registered storage site.
