Evening all, after having had our first son in August we are now looking to sell our gorgeous original 1972 Knowsley Juno 2 and upgrade to a more modern 4 berth (sad but a necessity)

The problem is that we still need to tow it behind a Reliant Scimitar as well as our modern family car so need a van that weighs no more than 1100kg fully laden.

Can any of you good people recommend a 4 berth (preferably with end bathroom if possible) that is nice and lightweight?

Thanks in advance, Matt & Yvonne

Maybe a folding caravan or trailer tent with all the mod cons, Conway or Penine are quite good, they have plenty of room warm & dry. I used one for a few years & pulled with my Scimitar, I dont know it was on the back sometimes, also didnt make much difference on fuel, good hunting?

Thanks for the advice but a folder is not something we're after, we like just winding the legs down and getting the kettle on. And with a nipper we'd like to stop on route to places for a snack or bum change etc

Thanks for replying though, Matt

Look at the Venus range of caravans if you are looking to buy new, modern lightweights designed to be towed by smaller cars.

Our Lunar Zenith 4 may be an option if you can find one, as they are no longer made, but maybe still a little heavy for your Reliant with a max laden weight of 1150kg.

The only other option would be to look at the tiny Freedom caravans, fairly basic with not many frills compaired to their big brothers, but very lightweight.

The same Staffordshire dealer that imports and sells the Freedoms, used to also stock Stieckerman(SP?) Caravans, another fairly lightweight continental caravan that may have something in the range suitable for your needs.

Are you looking to buy New or Secondhand?

What sort of price range do you have in mind?

I may be able to think of other options for you once these questions are answered.

The Freedom caravan dealer at Stafford also sells Secondhand models from trade ins, its a couple of years since I last visited him, around 2009 in fact, but he did have a few that maybe within your price range, or know of someone who has.

They would certainly be within your towing limits, and come in 2, 3, or 4 berth layouts.

Fairly damp proof too, as most are made of a single seamless fibreglass body.

Just thought I'd let you all know that we've bought a Bailey Discovery SE Avalon which matches our needs well. Hope to pick it up very soon and see if reality matches the dream

The next job is to prepare the Knowsley Juno 2 for sale to fund the new one, I'm going to miss it so much

Thanks for your help, Matt

that looks great Matt, hope it lives up to your expectations. In the future I may go back to a caravan, as a child and teen I had many years of great holidays in caravan's and trailer tents. So think this the way forward for me too
